The Opportunity

Join our High Net Worth underwriting team and help shape exceptional experiences for our broker partners and customers.

In this role, you'll be a trusted advisor, confidently managing risk decisions while fostering strong relationships that drive profitable growth and underwriting excellence.

What you'll do:
  • Deliver outstanding service with a focus on first-contact resolution.

  • Apply critical thinking and challenge the status quo to continuously improve underwriting practices.

  • Analyze data, pricing, and coverage to tailor solutions for Ovation customers.

  • Build and strengthen broker relationships to position Ovation as the preferred market for profitable partnerships.

  • Negotiate coverage and premiums while maintaining underwriting discipline and profitability.

  • Maintain a high level of underwriting accuracy and product knowledge across multiple lines of business.

  • Prepare new business quotes and handle endorsements, renewals, and inspections.

  • Review and interpret reports, including claims histories and driver abstracts.

  • Navigate multiple systems including Aviva Broker Portal, Salesforce, Five9, and other web-based tools.

  • Prioritize tasks effectively to meet deadlines and deliver results.

  • Represent Ovation with integrity in all interactions with brokers, team members, and stakeholders.

  • Commit to ongoing learning - enhancing both technical expertise and soft skills.

What you'll bring:

  • 5+ years of High Net Worth property insurance experience (underwriting or brokerage).

  • Excellent judgement in risk selection and the ability to develop sound business cases to substantiate your underwriting decisions

  • Knowledge of competitor wordings or appetite is an asset

  • Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to engage professionally and collaboratively.

  • Active listening skills to understand broker and customer needs and deliver tailored solutions.

  • Outstanding communication skills - both written and verbal.

  • Proven analytical, negotiation, and decision-making abilities.

  • Strong time management and organizational skills with a proactive mindset.

  • Comfort working in a hybrid environment with demonstrated productivity.

  • CIP or CRM designation (completed or in progress).

What you'll get:

  • The salary band for this position ranges from $60,000 to $90,000. Please note that individual salary is determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience, as well as internal equity.
