Senior Mining Engineer โ€“ Underground Aggregate Operations

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead and drive surface quarry and underground mine planning, design, and sequencing to optimize safety, production, and cost efficiency

  • Analyze geological data and develop models to support extraction strategies and long-term resource planning

  • Drive mine planning and continuous improvement initiatives across drilling, blasting, ventilation, and ground control practices for both underground and surface operations

  • Lead investigations into fall-of-ground and other reportable mine incidents, determining root causes, recommending mitigation strategies, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and company standards

  • Collaborate with operations, safety, maintenance, and environmental teams and liaise with state and federal regulatory agencies (e.g., MSHA) to support safe, efficient production and effective incident response

What Are We Looking For

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, or related technical discipline; additional PE or PG certification preferred

  • 5+ years of mining engineering experience, including underground operations

  • Strong understanding of underground mining engineering principles, planning, and design

  • Experience with structural geology, geologic mapping, and mining software/tools preferred

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with a commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and continuous improvement

Work Environment

  • Work in a combination of office, surface quarry, and underground mining environments, with regular site visits required

  • Perform work in varying underground conditions, including low-light settings, confined spaces, uneven ground, and exposure to dust and noise

  • Must be comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces and be able to safely navigate active mining operations

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in outdoor environments with varying weather conditions

  • Typical schedule is Mondayโ€“Friday, 40+ hours per week, with occasional Saturdays, extended hours, and travel between sites in Pennsylvania and Virginia as needed
