Job description

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, splice, terminate, and maintain underground primary and secondary cables and related equipment.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of specialized equipment such as cable pullers, hydraulic benders, trenchers, and fault locators.
  • Troubleshoot and repair underground faults and outages using appropriate diagnostic tools and procedures.
  • Work safely in energized and de-energized environments, including confined spaces and manholes.
  • Perform switching operations on underground distribution systems under the direction of a system operator.
  • Interpret electrical schematics, GIS maps, and construction drawings.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and company safety standards, including the use of PPE and Lockout/Tagout procedures.
  • Mentor and train Apprentice and B-level Linemen.
  • Complete daily work reports, material usage logs, and time sheets accurately and on time.
  • Respond to after-hours emergencies, storms, and outages as needed.

Qualifications:
Required:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Completion of an accredited electrical lineworker program or equivalent field experience.
  • Minimum 4-6 years of experience in underground electrical linework.
  • Valid Class A CDL (Commercial Driver's License) with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen.

Preferred:
  • OSHA 10/30 Certification.
  • First Aid/CPR Certification.
  • Prior leadership or foreman experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong knowledge of underground electrical distribution systems and safety protocols.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with underground fault detection equipment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Physically fit and able to lift up to 75 lbs, work outdoors in all weather conditions, and perform strenuous tasks.

Working Conditions:
  • Outdoor fieldwork in varying weather conditions.
  • On-call availability, including weekends and holidays.
  • Work in confined spaces such as vaults and manholes.
  • Exposure to high voltage and other hazards requiring strict adherence to safety practices.
