Job description

Now Hiring: Laborer for Anderson Underground - CDL Required

Anderson Underground is hiring Laborers to support traveling underground utility construction crews. We’re looking for someone who is dependable, safety-minded, and comfortable doing hands-on physical work outdoors. Laborers support Equipment Operators and Foremen with jobsite setup, cleanup, trenching, excavation, utility installation, spotting, and general crew support. This is a fully traveling role. Candidates must be comfortable traveling out of state for extended periods of time.

  • Schedule: 10 days on / 4 days off
  • Week 1: Monday-Friday
  • Week 2: Monday-Thursday
  • Hours: generally averages 50-55 hours per week, but can vary depending on work, weather, and project needs
    • Work days are typically Monday-Friday, with some Saturdays when customers allow. Crews are currently working toward an every-other-weekend-home schedule.
  • Travel: flights in and out are paid for, and transportation is provided
  • Per diem: $175 per working day
    • Per diem is usually paid on rain days, but there may be cases where employees are sent home due to sustained weather. In those situations, per diem would not be paid and direction will come from the Supervisor.
  • Pay: based on experience

What we’re looking for:

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Previous construction, utility, or general labor experience preferred
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with trenching, pipe laying, or underground utility work is a plus
  • Ability to assist with jobsite setup, cleanup, barricades, traffic control, and material organization
  • Willingness to support trenching, excavation, backfilling, compacting, and utility installation
  • Ability to assist with placing pipe, conduit, cable, and other underground utility materials
  • Comfortable spotting for equipment operators and helping protect existing underground utilities
  • Ability to operate hand tools and small equipment such as tampers, jackhammers, and power tools
  • Willingness to load, unload, clean, and maintain tools, materials, vehicles, and equipment
  • Ability to follow OSHA, DOT, company safety guidelines, and dig-safe procedures
  • Good communication with crew members, foremen, and subcontractors
  • Ability to follow supervisor direction and work as part of a safe, productive crew
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
  • Class A CDL preferred
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • OSHA 10 preferred
