Job Requirements
University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center (UM BWMC) is seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our comprehensive outpatient Pulmonary practice and develop expertise in Sleep Medicine.
This is an exciting opportunity for an NP who enjoys caring for a diverse pulmonary patient population and is interested in expanding their clinical skill set into Sleep Medicine. Previous Sleep Medicine experience is not required. We are willing to train the right NP who has a genuine interest in learning Sleep Medicine and making it an important focus of their practice.
You'll join a collaborative, team-oriented environment with accessible physician mentorship, dedicated clinical support, and resources designed to help you continue growing as an advanced practice provider.
What You'll Do
In this role, you'll provide outpatient care to patients with a variety of pulmonary and sleep-related conditions while collaborating closely with physicians, APP colleagues, and other specialties.
Responsibilities will include:
  • Evaluating and managing patients with general pulmonary conditions
  • Developing expertise in the evaluation and management of Sleep Medicine patients
  • Providing patient education and supporting ongoing treatment plans
  • Reviewing diagnostic testing and coordinating appropriate follow-up care
  • Collaborating with Pulmonary physicians and APP colleagues on complex patient cases
  • Working closely with the multidisciplinary clinical team to coordinate comprehensive patient care
  • Participating in ongoing clinical education and professional development
  • Opportunities to participate in research studies applicable to Pulmonary Medicine

A Practice Built to Support You
Our comprehensive outpatient Pulmonary practice offers NPs the opportunity to care for a diverse and complex patient population while being supported by an experienced multidisciplinary team.
Our clinical and operational support includes:
  • Dedicated RN support and a fully staffed clinical and front-office team
  • Accessible physician support, including case discussions and collaboration
  • Weekly APP group training with a physician
  • An engaged Practice Manager who works closely with the clinical team to support workflows and practice needs
  • An on-site, full-service Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT) Lab staffed by Respiratory Therapists and Technicians
  • On-site CT imaging, supporting greater coordination and continuity of pulmonary care
  • Medical Assistants trained to complete oxygen qualification testing and certifications
  • Opportunities to participate in Pulmonary Medicine research studies
  • A highly collaborative environment that allows NPs to expand their pulmonary and Sleep Medicine knowledge while practicing with a strong level of clinical support

What We're Looking For
We're seeking an NP who is collaborative, curious, and excited about continuing to develop their clinical expertise.
Qualifications include:
  • Current Maryland Nurse Practitioner licensure or eligibility for Maryland licensure
  • National Nurse Practitioner certification
  • Prior experience in Pulmonary Medicine, Internal Medicine, Primary Care, Sleep Medicine, or a related specialty preferred
  • Previous Sleep Medicine experience is not required-we are willing to train the right candidate
  • Strong interest in learning and developing expertise in Sleep Medicine
  • Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and patient education skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a collaborative, physician-supported practice model
