Job Title: MIG Welder – Heavy Gauge Steel
Job Description
This role focuses on setting up, operating, and welding, soldering, and brazing machines to produce high-quality welds on heavy gauge stainless and mild steel components. You will primarily perform MIG welding, including multi-pass welds, to fabricate compactors, pavement maintenance equipment, and paving machinery. The position requires careful interpretation of blueprints, precise layout and setup of components, and strict adherence to safety and quality standards in a busy fabrication shop environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
Why Work Here?
You will join a large, established facility that manufactures and distributes the paving equipment commonly used on construction sites, offering exposure to a wide range of products and fabrication stages rather than repetitive assembly line work. The culture emphasizes respect and support for employees, with consistent weekly feedback from supervisors to help you grow and succeed. Major holidays are celebrated with events, gifts, or prizes, creating a positive and engaging workplace. Contract roles provide a clear pathway to permanent employment, giving you the opportunity to build a long-term career in a stable and well-organized environment.
Work Environment
The position is based on a shop floor and fabrication environment that operates like a mechanic shop rather than an assembly line, with work progressing through different stages from start to finish. You can expect occasional loud noises of 80 dB or higher and limited exposure to ultraviolet rays from welding arcs and plasma torches, making adherence to safety procedures essential. The company supplies all welding gear and equipment except steel-toed safety boots, which you must provide; if you own a preferred welding helmet, you are welcome to use it. The role is available on 2nd shift (2:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m., Monday–Friday) and 3rd shift (10:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m., Monday–Friday), offering structured hours in a professional, safety-focused fabrication environment.
