How much do ultrasonic testing jobs pay per hour?
What does an ultrasonic testing do?
What are some common challenges faced by ultrasonic testing technicians in the field, and how can they be addressed?
What is ultrasonic testing?
What is the difference between Ultrasonic Testing vs Radiographic Testing?
| Aspect | Ultrasonic Testing | Radiographic Testing |
|---|---|---|
| Credentials | Level I, II, III certifications in ultrasonic testing | Level I, II, III certifications in radiography |
| Work Environment | Contact-based, uses ultrasonic waves on materials | Non-contact, uses X-ray or gamma rays on materials |
| Industry Usage | Welding, aerospace, power plants | Welding, aerospace, power plants |
| Detection Type | Measures thickness, detects flaws via ultrasonic waves | Visualizes internal flaws via radiographic images |
Both Ultrasonic Testing and Radiographic Testing are non-destructive methods used to inspect materials for flaws. Ultrasonic Testing is contact-based and ideal for thickness measurements and detecting subsurface flaws, while Radiographic Testing provides detailed internal images but involves radiation. The choice depends on the specific inspection needs and safety considerations.
