Key responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end HRIS implementations and migrations for clients, including discovery, requirements gathering, system configuration, data migration, testing, and go-live support.

  • Configure core HRIS modules such as HR, payroll, benefits, time & attendance, and onboarding based on client requirements.

  • Train client HR teams and end users, troubleshoot issues during and after go-live, and provide post-launch stabilization support.

Job description

HumCap is a boutique HR consulting and recruiting firm. We solve people problems. Our clients hire us to fill HR gaps, fix broken systems, and build the people infrastructure that lets them grow. We're fast, responsive, tenacious, honest, and focused — and we hold ourselves to the same standard we bring to every client: Be Better Every Day, Deliver Results, Persevere with Grit, Win as a Team.
The Role
We're looking for a contract HRIS Implementation Consultant to lead system implementations and optimizations for our clients — mid-market and growing companies that need a steady, experienced hand to get their HR technology right the first time. You'll own the project from discovery through go-live, working directly with client stakeholders and HumCap's team to deliver a system that actually works for the business using it.
This is a hands-on, client-facing role. You'll spend as much time asking good questions and managing change as you will configuring workflows.
What You'll Do
  • Lead end-to-end HRIS implementations and migrations for clients, including discovery, requirements gathering, system configuration, data migration, testing, and go-live support.
  • Assess current-state HR processes and recommend how they should translate into the new system — not just replicate what exists today.
  • Configure core HRIS modules (HR, payroll, benefits, time & attendance, onboarding) based on client requirements.
  • Manage data conversion and validation, working closely with client teams to ensure accuracy.
  • Build and test workflows, approval chains, and integrations with third-party systems (benefits carriers, timekeeping, ATS, etc.).
  • Train client HR teams and end users, and create simple, clear documentation they'll actually use.
  • Troubleshoot issues during and after go-live, and provide post-launch stabilization support.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and timelines clearly to both client stakeholders and the HumCap team.
  • Flag scope changes early and help manage them before they become problems.
What You Bring
  • 3+ years of hands-on HRIS implementation experience, ideally across multiple platforms.
  • Direct implementation experience with Paylocity and/or Paycor required; experience with additional platforms (ADP, UKG/UltiPro, Paycom, Workday, isolved, Rippling, or similar) strongly preferred.
  • Solid understanding of core HR processes: payroll, benefits administration, time & attendance, onboarding, and compliance.
  • Experience managing data migrations and integrations between HRIS and other business systems.
  • Strong project management instincts — you can run a timeline, manage a client relationship, and keep a project on track without heavy oversight.
  • Clear, confident communicator who can translate technical system details into plain language for HR and business leaders.
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote, client-facing consulting environment.
  • HRIS or platform-specific certifications a plus, not required.
