Responsibilities

Under the direction of the director and with the direct supervision of the Charge RN admits and discharges patients from the monitoring system; communicates cardiac rhythms to nursing when requested or when changes occur; prints and interprets rhythm strips, per policy. Rhythm strips are given to the Unit Secretary for filing. The monitor technician also maintains continuous monitoring for patients on cardiac telemetry; utilizing a high degree or critical thinking skills to both effectively and appropriately communicate, manage equipment, and alarm settings, per policy. Additional responsibilities include billing input for telemetry and/or other patient charges.


Qualifications

Education: - High School Diploma/GED

Licensure/Certification/Registration: - BLS

Special Skills/Qualifications/Additional Training/Experience Required:

- At least 1 year of experience as a Monitor Tech

- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
