Job Description
The Digital Content Coordinator plays a key role in shaping and amplifying the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) digital presence. Reporting to the Strategic Digital Content Manager, this position is responsible for creating engaging multimedia content, managing social media initiatives, and supervising a team of video producers to support the organization's strategic communications goals.
The successful candidate will combine creativity, technical expertise, and strategic thinking to develop compelling digital storytelling across UF/IFAS flagship platforms. This position requires a strong understanding of social media trends, audience engagement strategies, video production, analytics, and brand management. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders, and is passionate about translating complex research, teaching, and Extension efforts into content that resonates with diverse audiences.
The University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences Communications team (UF/IFAS Communications) amplifies the reach of scientific knowledge through words, technology, art, and video to connect with audiences wherever they are. We work to increase awareness of UF/IFAS expertise and showcase how the organization advances the university's land-grant mission through teaching, research, and Extension. Through innovative digital storytelling and strategic communications, we help share the impact of UF/IFAS with students, stakeholders, industry partners, and communities throughout Florida and beyond.
Multimedia Content Creation & Digital Storytelling
Lead the development of high-quality multimedia content for UF/IFAS flagship social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, YouTube, and emerging platforms. Create content in a variety of formats including short-form video, long-form video, photography, graphics, reels, stories, and other digital assets designed to engage audiences and support organizational goals.
Research, script, direct, film, and edit video content while utilizing professional production equipment such as mirrorless cameras, smartphones, gimbals, action cameras, lighting systems, and audio equipment. Organize and conduct photo and video shoots, attend events to provide live social media coverage, and collaborate with internal creative teams to develop visually compelling content.
Serve as a subject matter resource on emerging content creation technologies, production techniques, and equipment recommendations. Provide guidance to faculty, staff, and stakeholders to help them effectively communicate on camera and participate in digital storytelling efforts.
Video Production Leadership & Team Supervision
Provide direct supervision and leadership for two Video Producer positions. Coordinate production schedules, assign projects, establish priorities, and monitor progress to ensure projects are completed on time and aligned with client objectives.
Partner with the Strategic Digital Content Manager to evaluate project requests, establish priorities, manage client expectations, and determine appropriate production approaches. Develop and implement workflow improvements, production standards, and best practices that enhance team efficiency and maintain consistency across all deliverables.
Review completed projects to ensure compliance with UF/IFAS branding, accessibility requirements, platform-specific best practices, and overall communications objectives. Mentor and support team members through feedback, professional development, and coaching.
Social Media Strategy, Analytics & Internal Support
Support the development and execution of social media campaigns and content strategies that increase audience engagement, strengthen brand awareness, and position UF/IFAS as a trusted source of information. Assist with content planning, scheduling, publishing, monitoring, and community management across multiple digital platforms.
Track, analyze, and interpret social media and video performance metrics to evaluate campaign effectiveness and identify opportunities for growth. Utilize platform analytics and content management tools to generate insights and recommendations that inform future content strategies and priorities.
Provide training, consultation, and educational resources to communicators and content creators across UF/IFAS on social media best practices, video production techniques, accessibility requirements, and digital analytics. Develop documentation and guidance materials that support consistent and effective digital communications throughout the organization
Expected Salary:
$61,000; commensurate with education, skills, and experience.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and two years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred:
  • 2+ years of experience operating camera equipment to produce video and photo-based content
  • Proven ability to grow a brand YouTube Channel
  • Experience using Vid IQ to identify video topics
  • Experience using YouTube Studio to analyze video performance and make improvements
  • Previous experience running brand social media accounts
  • Proficiency in Adobe Suite, Davincii Resolve, Canva, and Edits
  • Knowledge of audio and lighting equipment
  • Managerial experience
  • Familiarity with video and content marketing principles
  • Experience incorporating artificial intelligence into workflow processes
  • Data wrangling
  • Exposure to journalism ethics
