Overview

UF Health Spanish Plaines Hospital, formerly known as The Villages Regional Hospital and acquired by University of Florida Health in January 2020, has been serving residents of The Villages as well as patients in Lake, Sumter and Marion counties since 2002. Responsibilities

Works under the direction of the Director of Therapy Services and/or the Supervisor of Therapy Services. The Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) provides direct patient care, as directed by the evaluating Occupational Therapist, to all those patients referred for OT at UF Health Leesburg Hospital and UF Health The Villages Hospital. The COTA participates in all team conferences, staff meetings and any other appropriate meetings deemed necessary by the specific unit. The COTA is able to interact on a professional basis with all UF Health Leesburg/UF Health The Villages Therapy Team members and is able to understand and react effectively to the unique needs of patients in reference to specific age groups. The COTA demonstrates competency to care for patients in accordance with discipline specific therapy standards, as defined by the Florida Dept. of Health, Board of OT. The COTA provides instruction and assistance to all Therapy Team members and acts in compliance with the ethical conduct of the organization at all times.


Qualifications

Education:

- Associates Degree

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

- Florida Licensed Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant

- BLS

Special Skills/Qualifications/Additional Training/Experience Required:

- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
