Job Highlights

Our team of approximately 150 pharmacists and 150 technicians work together to support pharmacy operations and serve a diverse patient population with compassion and clinical expertise. As a pharmacy technician at UAB Medicine, you’ll be an integral part of the pharmacy team. Pharmacy technicians work directly with pharmacists and have a variety of responsibilities that support patient care at UAB Hospital. Duties may include preparing sterile IV medications, filling medication order requests, filling automated dispensing cabinets, compounding non-sterile medications and preparing prescription orders. Job Description

Under moderate supervision, to perform duties related to the processing of patient and third party payor payments. To prepare and submit vendor payments and patient refund requisitions. To work closely with Patient Financial Services to reconcile patient and third party payor account issues.

-  Serving as a liaison between the patient, the clinic pharmacist, and the outpatient pharmacy

- Performing benefits investigation

- Collaboration with our clinic pharmacists to obtain prior authorizations

- Assisting patients with the enrollment and utilization of financial assistance programs

- Processing prescription orders and third-party payer claims

- Performing longitudinal patient follow-up along with all necessary documentation for accreditations

- Performing and documenting medication reconciliation

- Providing excellent customer service

Qualifications

- High School diploma or GED.

- One (1) year of retail or related experience required.

- Currently registered or eligible to be registered as a pharmacy technician or pharmacy intern/extern by the Alabama Board of Pharmacy (ALBOP) required. Active registration will be required prior to date of hire.

- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) License Preferred.
