Job Summary:
The A&P Apprentice is responsible for assisting with the maintenance of company aircraft. The assigned A&P or Repairman will provide back-sign as proof of supervision, as per 14 CFR Part 43.3(d). In addition to general maintenance support, the A&P apprentice will be assigned to perform welding and metal fabrication duties consistent with the essential functions of the position under the supervision of qualified personnel, as applicable. A&P Apprentices are expected to accumulate substantial on-the-job (OJT) training hours or complete their own college coursework in order to test for an Airframe and/or Powerplant certificate. Payment for testing fees is available, subject to certain restrictions.
Compensation: Starting at $25.00 p/hr +DOE
Schedule: M-F 8:00AM - 5:00PM
Employment Type: Regular Full-Time
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Essential Functions:
  1. Ensure that all assigned tasks are carried out in accordance with the policies and procedures outlined in the General Maintenance Manual. Stay updated by reviewing Maintenance Bulletins and Memos as they are released.
  2. Aid A&P Mechanics and Repairmen in the replacement, installation, maintenance, and repair of aircraft components.
  3. Utilize hand tools or power tools to adjust, connect/disconnect wiring, piping, tubing, panels, and other aircraft parts.
  4. Support coworkers by providing tools and supplies, maintaining cleanliness in work areas, and assisting with holding materials or tools.
  5. Take part in the assembly and disassembly of machinery, equipment, components, and parts.
  6. Carry out tasks such as cleaning and lubricating machinery, equipment, instruments, tools, work areas, and other objects using power tools and cleaning equipment.
  7. Position vehicles, machinery, equipment, physical structures, and other objects for assembly or installation using hand tools, power tools, and moving equipment.
  8. Assist with preheating, deicing, aircraft launch and recovery, servicing, fluids, snow removal, and hangar recovery.
  9. Maintain company-required qualifications and recurrent training.
  10. Perform welding, brazing, soldering, flame-cutting, and metal fabrication operations using electric, gas, arc, and other welding equipment to manufacture, repair, and modify aircraft components and related equipment.
  11. Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and work instructions to plan, layout, fabricate, fit, align, assemble, and weld metal components and structural assemblies.
  12. Set up, operate, and adjust welding and fabrication equipment, selecting appropriate welding methods, materials, and operating parameters to meet engineering and quality requirements.
  13. Cut, shape, heat, form, grind, finish, and otherwise prepare metal materials using hand tools, power tools, torches, and fabrication equipment.
  14. Inspect materials, fit-ups, dimensions, and completed welds using precision measuring instruments and applicable testing methods to ensure compliance with engineering specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
  15. Repair, modify, and fabricate aircraft and support equipment components while maintaining a safe work environment and complying with all company policies, safety procedures, and applicable regulations.

Qualifications:
  1. Valid Driver's License is required.
  2. Must be able to pass a Drug Test and Airport Background criminal history check.
  3. Must be able to work effectively in a drug-free workplace and comply with company drug and alcohol policies.
  4. Must be able available to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call schedules.
  5. Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment is highly preferred.
  6. Proficient in computer literacy with experience in Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) is preferred.
  7. Able to collaborate with team as well as work independently without supervision is required.
  8. Minimum of three (3) years of welding and metal fabrication experience required.
  9. Aircraft, aerospace, military, heavy equipment, or industrial fabrication experience strongly preferred.
