Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Is responsible for receiving all calls through the switchboard and transferring calls to proper destinations.  Directs visitors to patient's rooms and other areas of hospital as needed.  Performs charge entry on patient accounts.  Assists with Medicare, Medicaid, and Carolina Access and Blue Cross/Blue Shield eligibility verification and updates.  Processes information on the Center's Health Information System as required in performing job responsibilities.  Provides data entry functions for assigned accounts.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High School graduate with typing and computer skills; knowledge of switchboard operations, ability to deal with multiple phone lines in calm and professional manner; ability to follow medical staff instructions; ability to stay calm in emergencies; good communication and organizational skills; ability to deal with the public in a professional manner and maintain good relationships with hospital personnel and staff physicians; ability to maintain patient confidentiality; good physical and mental health and good personal hygiene.
