The California Governor's Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) is seeking an Office Technician (Typing) to join the California Specialized Training Institute (CSTI) State Training Operations Unit.
In this dynamic role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for public inquiries and course registration activities, supporting the delivery of all-hazards training to first responders and emergency managers across California. You will perform a variety of advanced administrative and customer service functions, coordinate training-related information, maintain records and databases, and assist with the successful delivery of statewide training programs that strengthen California's preparedness and resilience.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, customer-focused, and possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills. This position requires sound judgment, strong organizational abilities, proficiency in administrative support functions, and the ability to effectively interact with emergency management professionals, training partners, and stakeholders at all levels of government.

The California Governor's Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) is an emergency response, homeland security, and disaster recovery agency and as a result, is a dynamic and exciting place to work in a team-oriented environment. Cal OES provides training to enhance the understanding of emergency and incident management to all employees.
The Planning, Preparedness, and Prevention Directorate develops and maintains statewide plans and planning guidance for local emergency management, state agencies, and tribal governments, including specialized programs for radiological preparedness, dam safety, seismic hazards, and earthquake early warning. This directorate also includes the California Specialized Training Institute which provides exercise support and courses in emergency management, hazardous materials response, criminal justice/officer safety, fire & rescue, and crisis communications.
In the event of an emergency, employees may be contacted and requested to report to work in the event of an emergency. This contact may be outside of your normal working hours (evenings/nights, weekends, and holidays). This service may require irregular work hours, work locations other than the official duty location, and may include duties other than those specified in your official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and you may be required to relocate to emergency sites.
