Job description

Comity is looking for a Full Stack Developer to contribute both to our mobile application and backend for our Guaranteed Income product. The app will integrate with Comity's backend via a REST API and allow our members to apply for the Comity Card, see upcoming advances, transaction history, and balance, manage their card, and settle up at tax time. We are building a multiplatform app with React Native, but prioritizing Android which has greater market share among our target customer base. The backend will integrate with third party data vendors and our card processor, and expose REST APIs to our mobile application and internal admin portal.
You will work with our engineering team to design, develop, test, and deploy our mobile app, which is built with React Native and Typescript, and our backend, which is built with Kotlin. This includes implementing mobile components and features, REST APIs and batch jobs, third party API and SDK integrations, application monitoring, and writing unit, integration, and functional tests. As one of our first engineering hires, you will have broad impact and ownership over our codebase, technology choices, and team culture.
  • Funding $4.6M
  • Founded 2018
  • Salary: $160k - $200k
  • 100% US remote
  • ~8 employees
  • Seed Company
  • Skills: React
  • Will Transfer H1
Skills and Experience
  • 4+ years experience working on production web services or mobile applications.
  • We like to hire generalists, but experience with any part of our stack (Typescript, React Native, Kotlin, OpenAPI, Gradle, PostgreSQL, AWS) is a plus.
  • We are a small team working on a greenfield product, so an ability to work well in an unstructured environment with loosely defined requirements is critical.
Location
New York is the preferred location for this role but we are open to US-based remote engineers as well. Our founding team is located in New York, where we plan to establish an office. We also work remotely with engineers in Austin, San Francisco, and New Mexico. We plan to host colocated work weeks once per quarter in New York.
