Job description

Hi, We're Centerfield!
Supercharged customer acquisition. Centerfield delivers outcome-based digital marketing solutions and personalized omnichannel experiences for the world's leading brands. Powered by our proprietary Dugout platform, Centerfield acquires customers at scale for leading residential service, insurance, e-commerce, and B2B brands. Centerfield's digital experiences and digital brands, such as Business.com and BroadbandNow.com, reach more than 150 million in-market shoppers annually. Centerfield is headquartered in Silicon Beach and is proud to be recognized by Built in LA as a Best Place to Work in Los Angeles.
The Opportunity...
As a Frontend Engineer Intern at Centerfield, you'll join our engineering team building intuitive, high-performance consumer-facing web interfaces used by millions of shoppers. You'll ship real features - building new applications from scratch and extending or redesigning existing products, contributing to high-traffic sites like Savings.com.
Our team practices AI-first development: engineers act as architects who direct AI agents, custom skills, and automated workflows to deliver production software. You'll learn to go beyond out-of-the-box tools like Claude Code or Codex - building custom agents, domain knowledge systems, and review processes that turn AI into a force multiplier. We care less about clever code and more about delivering business value.
How You'll Contribute...
  • Build and ship consumer-facing web applications and features, from greenfield builds to redesigns of existing high-traffic sites
  • Develop responsive, accessible front-end experiences using React, Next.js, and TypeScript, integrating seamlessly with back-end APIs (Node.js, Java)
  • Use and extend our custom AI development harness: agents, skills, and workflow commands to accelerate delivery
  • Experiment with new ways to apply AI agents to real engineering problems, and share what works with the team
  • Collaborate with product, design, and engineering to turn business goals into shipped features
  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle: design, build, review, ship, iterate

What We're Looking For...
  • Genuine curiosity and open-mindedness about AI-driven development. You actively experiment with AI agents and tools, and can show us something cool you've built with them
  • Solid understanding of modern front-end development: React, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS/Tailwind.
  • Exposure to frameworks and runtimes like Next.js and Node.js
  • Understanding of APIs and how front-ends talk to back-end services
  • Knowledge of software fundamentals: source control, debugging
  • Rising seniors or new graduates (update year as needed)
  • Local to Playa Vista HQ and willing to come into the office 3 days a week
  • Pursuing a degree in Computer Science or a relevant field

Bonus Points!
  • A portfolio, repo, or demo of something you built primarily with AI agents - bonus if you customized the workflow (custom agents, skills, prompt systems, MCP servers, evals)
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Google Cloud Platform or AWS)
  • Understanding of REST APIs and web performance
  • Exposure to Vercel, Docker, or modern deployment tooling

Intern Life at Centerfield...
  • This is a hybrid position, and employees are expected to work in our Playa Vista, CA office every Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday.
  • Outside patio overlooking Playa Vista + cabanas, firepits & working grills.
  • Breakroom supplied with games, couches, workout equipment + weekly in-office exercise classes hosted by professional instructors (yoga, kickboxing & circuit training).
  • Paid charity and volunteer days (local mentor programs, adopt a pet, beach cleanup, etc.).
  • Unlimited free snacks and drinks around the office!
  • Monthly happy hours, catered Thursday lunches.
  • Award-winning culture & unprecedented team spirit (featured in LA Business Journal & Built In LA Best Places to Work).
  • Monthly team outings (ball games, casino night, hikes, etc.).
  • Career growth - we enjoy promoting from within
