Our team designs, develops and maintains massively scaling technology solutions brought to life with innovative architectures, data analytics, and digital solutions.

Job overview and responsibilities

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Developer with strong hands‑on expertise in AI agent development, Python, and modern cloud technologies. This role requires an individual who can independently design and build scalable AI automation solutions, create sophisticated agentic workflows, and contribute to architectural decisions while ensuring high‑quality delivery and support.

Our Vision:

You will be responsible for creating multiple AI agents that run at scale, implementing automation workflows for customer retail intents and journeys across voice, chat, and future channels. Your work will directly contribute to eliminating wait times and giving every United customer a fast, effortless resolution.

  • Design, develop, and deploy AI agents and agentic workflows using LangChain, LangGraph, or similar agent development frameworks
  • Build scalable automation solutions that handle high-volume customer retail intents and journeys, particularly during peak demand and irregular operations (IRROPS)
  • Develop conversational AI solutions and voice automation capabilities that seamlessly integrate with United's customer service channels
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well‑documented code in Python, TypeScript, and .NET/C#
  • Implement and optimize AI agent orchestration, prompt engineering, and retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG) patterns
  • Collaborate with AI/ML engineers, data scientists, and product teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions
  • Participate in full development life cycle including requirements analysis and design using Agile methodologies
  • Serve as technical expert on AI automation development projects
  • Write technical specifications based on conceptual design and stated business requirements
  • Support, maintain, and document AI agent functionality and automation workflows
  • Identify and evaluate new AI technologies and frameworks for implementation
  • Analyze code to find causes of errors and revise programs as needed
  • Participate in software design meetings and analyze user needs to determine technical requirements
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams consisting of employees and vendor contractors in planning and execution
  • Collaborate with end users to prototype, refine, test, and debug AI agents to meet customer experience needs
  • Ensure adherence to code quality standards, security protocols, and responsible AI principles
  • Leverage cloud technologies (AWS preferred) to build and deploy AI solutions at scale
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and best practices for AI agent development
Qualifications

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or related field preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in software design and development
  • Strong proficiency in Python programming
  • Experience with TypeScript and .NET/C# development
  • Knowledge of Object‑Oriented systems design and Application Development
  • Experience implementing AWS technologies
  • Strong knowledge of API development and integration
  • Experience with Cloud Automation Development Tools
  • Knowledge of SQL, NoSQL databases and Design Patterns
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):

  • 2+ years of experience building AI agents, conversational AI, or voice automation solutions
  • Hands‑on experience with LangChain, LangGraph, or similar agent development frameworks
  • Experience with Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), and prompt engineering
  • Knowledge of retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG) patterns and vector databases
  • Experience with AWS services including Lambda, Step Functions, API Gateway, S3, DynamoDB, ECS, EC2, CloudWatch, Vector Databases
  • Experience with event‑driven architectures and asynchronous processing
  • Knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, automation, and infrastructure as code
  • Experience with A/B testing and experimentation frameworks
  • Understanding of responsible AI principles and AI governance
  • Experience in enterprise‑scale applications
  • Airlines or travel industry experience is a plus
  • Experience with contact center or customer service technology platforms
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies

The base pay range for this role is $112,480.00 to $146,540.00.

The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job‑related, factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long‑term incentive compensation awards.
