Types Of Coding information

What are types of coding?

Types of coding refer to the various programming languages and paradigms used to create software, websites, apps, and more. Common types include front-end coding (like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript) for designing user interfaces, back-end coding (such as Python, Java, or Ruby) for server-side logic, and database coding (like SQL) for managing data. There are also specialized types like mobile app coding (Swift, Kotlin), game development (C++, Unity), and data science coding (Python, R). Each type of coding serves different purposes and requires specific knowledge and skills.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a computer programmer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Computer Programmer, you need strong problem-solving abilities, proficiency in programming languages (such as Python, Java, or C++), and typically a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with version control systems like Git, integrated development environments (IDEs), and debugging tools is essential. Attention to detail, effective communication, and the ability to collaborate with team members are vital soft skills. These skills and qualities ensure the ability to write efficient code, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to successful software development projects.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working in different types of coding roles, such as front-end, back-end, and full-stack development?

Professionals in various coding roles often encounter unique challenges depending on their focus area. Front-end developers may struggle with cross-browser compatibility and creating responsive designs, while back-end developers often address scalability and database integration issues. Full-stack developers face the dual challenge of staying updated with both client-side and server-side technologies, as well as managing communication between the two. Regardless of specialization, effective collaboration with designers, project managers, and other developers is essential for delivering cohesive software solutions. Regularly updating skills and adapting to new tools are also key aspects of thriving in any coding role.

Both roles require coding skills, but Types Of Coding covers a broader spectrum, whereas Web Developers focus on web-based projects.

Are types of coding still in demand?

Yes, coding roles such as software developers, web developers, and programmers remain in high demand due to ongoing digital transformation across industries. Skills in programming languages like Python, Java, and JavaScript, along with knowledge of development tools and frameworks, are especially sought after in the job market.

Job description

Senior Medical Coder - E/M & Quality Review

Pay: $28.00-$36.00 per hour
Location: 100% Remote
Schedule: Monday-Friday, flexible daytime schedule
Employment Type: Long term contract opportunity with potenital for full time hire

About the Role

We are supporting a growing healthcare technology company seeking an experienced Senior Medical Coder with strong E/M coding, provider documentation review, and coding quality experience.

This is not strictly a production coding role. The ideal candidate can independently review clinical documentation, determine whether the selected code and level of service are supported, identify coding or documentation discrepancies, and clearly explain the rationale behind coding decisions.

Behavioral health and psychiatry coding experience is highly preferred, but strong senior-level coders, coding auditors, E/M specialists, and coding quality professionals from other outpatient or professional-fee specialties will also be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Review outpatient and professional provider documentation for coding accuracy

  • Assign or validate CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, modifiers, and E/M codes

  • Determine whether documentation supports the selected level of service

  • Apply medical decision-making (MDM) and time-based E/M coding guidelines

  • Identify coding discrepancies, documentation gaps, and compliance concerns

  • Conduct coding audits, pre-bill reviews, and quality assurance reviews

  • Research complex or ambiguous coding scenarios

  • Query providers or identify when documentation clarification is needed

  • Clearly document and explain coding decisions

  • Support coding accuracy, consistency, and compliance initiatives

  • Identify coding trends and opportunities for process improvement

  • Help refine coding guidelines, workflows, and quality standards

  • Collaborate with coding, operations, and technical teams on technology-supported coding workflows

Required Qualifications

  • Active AAPC Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification

  • 5+ years of medical coding experience preferred

  • Strong outpatient, physician, or professional-fee coding background

  • Strong E/M coding knowledge

  • Experience reviewing provider documentation and medical records

  • Experience with CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and modifiers

  • Experience with coding audits, QA, compliance, charge review, or pre-bill review

  • Strong understanding of MDM and time-based E/M coding

  • Ability to independently determine whether documentation supports the assigned code

  • Strong attention to detail, research skills, and coding judgment

Highly Preferred

  • Behavioral health or psychiatry coding experience

  • Experience with CPT 99202-99205 and 99212-99215

  • Experience with psychotherapy add-on codes 90833, 90836, and 90838

  • CEMC or CPMA certification

  • Coding Auditor, Coding Lead, Coding Manager, Coding Educator, or Senior Medical Coder experience

  • Provider queries or provider education

  • Coding quality assurance or compliance experience

  • Professional-fee or physician coding

  • Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer experience

  • Experience training, mentoring, or reviewing other coders

Why Consider This Role?

This opportunity is designed for an experienced coder who enjoys the analytical and quality-focused side of coding.

Rather than simply working through a production queue, you will use your coding expertise to review documentation, evaluate complex E/M decisions, identify coding risks, support quality initiatives, and contribute to process improvement and technology-driven coding workflows.

Equipment Requirement

Candidates must provide their own reliable computer and internet connection for remote work.

Pay: $28.00-$36.00 per hour
