Job description

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks a PROJECT MANAGER II to oversee a broad range of development and alumni related functions specific to the School of Nursing and ensures that volunteer, stewardship, and cultivation strategies are carried out to meet the school's and university's strategic goals. This position is responsible for building, nurturing, and maintaining relationships with the Board of Visitors, the Junior Board of Visitors, and with individuals inside and outside the UAB community to generate goodwill for philanthropic support. This position is responsible for communicating with and supporting the engagement of nationally prominent alumni, donors, foundations, volunteers, and prospects; designing and implementing successful fundraising events; and providing high-level customer service to internal and external stakeholders to support the cultivation and stewardship of major gift donors. This position will work with leadership of both boards to meet annual event-fundraising goals, to recruit new members, clinical partnerships and scholarship, and to provide board members with meaningful onboarding and volunteer experiences. This position reports directly to the Senior Director of Development II (SDOD II) for the School of Nursing, supervises the Program Manager-Gifts, and works closely with the Development Coordinator, the Central Advancement Office, the Dean of Nursing, and the School's Office of Strategic Communications. Strategically manages and engages the 100 members of the Board of Visitors (BOV) and Junior Board of Visitors (JBOV) by cultivating and nurturing relationships with members; coordinates appropriate and timely messaging Under the direction of the SDOD II, assists in identifying and recruiting new members, and responsible for onboarding and motivating all board members; plans strategic bi-annual BOV meetings, monthly JBOV meetings, a year-end joint board meeting, and periodic orientation, Develops and implements comprehensive plans for BOV and JBOV annual fundraising-events, in collaboration with BOV and JBOV leadership, to fund strategic priorities of the school; responsible for meeting annual event-fundraising metrics and goals. Responsible for planning and managing distribution of the Boards' annual publication, Board Briefs, and other special publications as warranted and required, working closely with the School's SDOD II and Sr. Director of Communication. Works with the SDOD II, Assistant Director of Development, and the Central Advancement Office to identify potential sources of private gift support for events and recommend appropriate strategies and programs to generate major gift leads. Plans and implements strategic programs that inform and cultivate individuals, corporations and foundations with the capability of making gifts to support UAB; Supports the timely solicitation of gifts from these constituents. Works with the School's Development Coordinator to assure that potential gift prospects are properly researched and assigned, that all solicitations are coordinated and completed, and that donors receive appropriate acknowledgments and recognition. Oversees and manages the school's role in stewardship efforts for board members and non-scholarship donors; develops and implements plans for providing appropriate and timely holiday stewardship efforts, including holiday cards and year-end gifts Serves as the school's liaison to the Central Advancement Office, providing them with requested information, data, report summaries, content, photos, and edits for university-level thank you letters, impact reports and stewardship reports for major gift donors; prepares and distributes school-specific impact and stewardship reports to other donors as needed. Manages the daily office activities; tracks multiple office projects and ensures that objectives and timetables are met. Attends key SON and UAB meetings as needed; collects content for and prepares agendas for monthly meetings.
(Annual Salary:  $52,555  -  $85,400)
Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, Communications, English or a related field and five (5) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
Experience in fund-raising/events, customer service, volunteer management or outside sales in a corporate or business setting with a successful record of opening and maintaining new accounts, coordinating events, and selling tangible and intangible products preferred. Experience in a fundraising office benefitting higher education/Healthcare is preferred.
Must have strong communication, etiquette, interpersonal, and organizational skills and be able to work evening and weekend events on occasion. Experience with Excel, ASANA, Moves Management, SharePoint, UAB Blazer-Net and Self-Service Banner, Native Banner, Prospect Research databases (Lexis-Nexis), PowerPoint, and Adobe preferred.
