Whether it's designing roads, bridges, or multimodal systems, we ensure our designs are sustainable, cost-effective, and forward-thinking.
Responsibilities, Requirements, and Total Rewards
What You'll Be Doing
As a valuable part of our Transportation team, a Project Manager will support a variety of projects and gain hands-on experience with responsibilities such as:
  • Lead the planning, design, and execution of roadway design projects including new construction, rehabilitation, and corridor improvements
  • Serve as the primary client liaison, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring expectations are met or exceeded
  • Oversee and manage project budgets, scopes, schedules, and resources, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget
  • Provide technical leadership and direction to engineers and designers on roadway geometry, grading, drainage, and traffic-related elementsPrepare and review engineering reports, design calculations, PS&E packages, and permit application
  • Ensure project compliance with AASHTO, MUTCD, FHWA, and local/state DOT standards
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including municipalities, state agencies, and utilities
  • Mentor and supervise junior staff, supporting their technical and professional growth
  • Support business development activities including proposal writing, interviews, and client presentations

What You'll Need
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) - required
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in transportation engineering, with emphasis on roadway/highway design
  • Demonstrated success in project management, including team coordination, budget management, and client communication
  • Proficiency in design software such as MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Strong working knowledge of DOT standards, environmental permitting, and transportation funding mechanisms
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills

Preferred Requirements
  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering or Transportation Engineering
  • Prior experience managing projects for state DOTs, MPOs, or large municipal clients
  • Experience with design-build projects or municipal roadways
  • Active participation in professional organizations (ASCE, ITE, APWA, etc.).
