Job description

KMBC TV/KCWE TV, the ABC/CW Hearst Television stations in Kansas City, MO has an opening for a broadcast Operations Technician. The Operations Technician maintains the technical integrity of the station's on-air systems and its equipment from acquisition to distribution. This position supports all station efforts in-house and on remote locations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining on air operations to include running commercials, network, and local programming.

  • Working knowledge of master control and production control room automation systems. 

  • Follow FCC monitoring and EAS procedures.

  • Coordinate ENG Microwave activity. Including Helicopter and Live truck reception. 

  • Work with all field units coordinating cellular TVU live shots. 

  • Ingesting and prepping content for on air playback. 

  • Work as needed with station engineering assisting with facilities projects and upkeep of the technical plant. 

  • Basic multi-media computer skills and familiarity with current Internet technology 

  • Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Chief Engineer and Director of Engineering. 

  • In-person attendance is required.

Requirements:

  • Should have 1+ years of experience working as an Operations Technician or Engineer at a commercial television station with extensive experience in operating a wide variety of broadcast equipment.

  • Must have a solid background in the operations of broadcast television systems and equipment.

  • Must be available to work all shifts and holidays
