Job Summary:
Gray Media, parent company of Telemundo 20/KTLE and First Alert 7/KOSA - the top-rated, long-time news leader in Odessa-Midland, TX - is looking for a Bilingual Digital Content Producer/MMJ to join our news team. You will generate West Texas-based news content in Spanish for our Telemundo digital and broadcast platforms.
About Gray Spanish Digital Content Center:
The Gray Spanish Digital Content Center provides local, national, and international news in addition to entertainment and trending coverage for our local television stations and associated brands. You'll be responsible for shooting and editing stories for broadcast, digital, and social media platforms. You also will be a trainer for our multimedia journalists (MMJ's). Salary is based on experience.
The successful candidate will work with the Spanish Digital Content Center, which distributes content to our Spanish-language stations' websites in more than 40 markets across the United States.
Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- The ideal candidate will be able to respond to both local and national news coverage in real time.
- The ideal candidate must be able to work well with a team using digital/email communications.
- The ideal candidate must demonstrate strong Spanish and English writing and copy-editing skills following generally accepted AP style guidelines.
- The ideal candidate must demonstrate solid news judgment and must be able to enterprise relevant daily stories that will be included in the nightly Telemundo 20 newscasts.
- The ideal candidate must be a self-starter who is ready to develop relationships with the Spanish-speaking community in West Texas.
- The ideal candidate should be able to work flexible shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- The successful candidate will also report for both broadcast and digital platforms for our stations Telemundo 20 and First Alert 7 in Odessa, Texas, and will perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Mass Communications, or a related field; OR two years of comparable work experience.
- Demonstrated visual storytelling experience. (Can include traditional broadcast and/or digital and/or social media examples.)
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment and the ability to complete work on deadline.
- Demonstrated ability to work in an organized way, including prioritizing multiple tasks as needed.
- Current driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Knowledge and experience with standard workplace software including Microsoft applications for email and word processing; previous experience with newsroom systems is preferred.
