What is a TV Guide Channel?

A TV Guide Channel is a television channel or service that provides viewers with schedules and listings of upcoming TV programs. It often displays a scrolling grid of channels and show times, sometimes accompanied by previews, advertisements, or editorial content about popular shows and movies. These channels help viewers easily find what’s currently on TV and plan their viewing, especially before the widespread use of digital on-screen guides. Some versions of TV Guide Channels also included entertainment news, celebrity interviews, and recommendations. The concept has largely transitioned to digital platforms, but the original channels were a staple for many cable subscribers.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a TV Guide Channel Producer, and why are they important?

Familiarity with editing software, content management systems, and scheduling tools is typically required. • Work closely with Creative Services and the CMG Hub to create compelling visual content
  • Mentor producers and foster growth within the producing team
  • Integrate station research and branding into content decisions
  • Lead confidently during breaking news, making quick editorial calls with clarity
  • Be available to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or related field or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years of newscast producing experience in a local TV newsroom
  • Strong control room skills, with experience stacking and executing high impact shows
  • A track record of supporting and collaborating with newsroom leadership
