Job description

Under the direction of the Supervisor, Creative Services, the Senior Graphic Designer produces and designs art and copy layouts for materials to be presented through visual communication media such as books, magazines, newspapers, television, digital displays, and social media. Provides leadership on creative projects, guiding the conceptual development, execution, and delivery of high-impact visual solutions. Manages their time and priorities on projects and ensuring alignment with brand standards and strategic objectives. Provides training and mentorship of graphic design staff, fostering professional growth and ensuring adherence to help established procedures for creating, submitting, and archiving design files. Collaborates, initiates, and supports opportunities with other functions by championing the goals and priorities of the Tribe in a manner that faithfully reflects and upholds the Tribe's vision, mission, and values.
This position is onsite 5 days per week in Highland, CA. There are no hybrid or remote positions available.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Develops and presents design concepts and layout drafts to clients or supervisors for feedback and approval. Refines and finalizes layouts based on input, ensuring visual consistency, brand alignment, and production readiness. Provides clear instructions to production staff when needed and oversees the preparation of final deliverables to ensure quality and accuracy.
2. Consults with account specialists, production team or supervisors to assess project objectives, scope, and creative direction. Develops high-valued key-art concepts, illustrations, or and mock-ups based on client input and strategic goals.
3. Analyzes visual assets and content-including illustrations, photographs, and text-to plan effective presentation of materials. Determines layout structure, selects typography, and creates sample compositions that align with brand standards.
4. Coordinates with account specialists and the production team to prepare final production files, reviews proofs, and ensures the quality and accuracy of final products prior to release.
5. Provides training and mentorship of graphic design staff, promoting best practices in digital workflows, file management, and design standards. In coordination with the Creative Services Supervisors, assists with onboarding of new team members and supports ongoing skill development.
6. Manages and maintains image and creative resource libraries, ensuring accessibility, organization, and proper usage of visual assets.
7. Performs other duties as assigned to support the e?cient operation of the department.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelors' Degree in area of specialty required.
  • Minimum four (4) years design experience including at least one (1) year hands-on field experience in digital design required.
  • Related, relevant, and/or direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational requirements indicated above.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA)
  • Compelling portfolio that demonstrates beautiful digital experiences and innovative design may be accepted in lieu of experience.
  • Must have working knowledge of Mac OS and Windows Operating Systems with expert knowledge of industry standard graphic design software including, but not limited to, Adobe Creative Cloud (Specifically InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop)
  • Motion graphics knowledge (After Effects and 3D programs) preferred.
  • Must have working knowledge Microsoft Office Suite and similar programs.
  • Adobe Workfront or similar project management systems experience preferred.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS AND REGISTRATIONS
  • At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.
  • No Driving Responsibilities: Role does not require a driver's license or insurance.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ WORKING CONDITIONS - ENVIRONMENT

  • Primary work environment is in a climate-controlled office setting.
  • Work requires travel to attend meetings, trade shows, and conferences.

  • Hearing sufficient to hear conversational levels in person, via videoconference and over the telephone.
  • Speech sufficient to make oneself heard and understood in person, in front of groups, in meetings, via videoconference and over the telephone.
  • Visual acuity that meets the requirements of the position: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading and visual inspection of employees, visitors or facility.
  • Mobility sufficient to safely move in an office environment, walk, stoop, bend and kneel, and enter, exit and operate a motor vehicle in the course of travel to promotional events, meetings, conferences, trade shows and San Manuel properties.
  • Endurance sufficient to sit, walk and stand for extended periods, and maintain efficiency throughout the entire work shift and during extended work hours.
  • The employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles including secondhand smoke.
