Job description

WLWT-TV, the NBC affiliate of Hearst Television in Cincinnati, Ohio, has an opening for a full-time Broadcast Operations Technician. The Operations Technician is responsible for maintaining the technical integrity of the station's on-air systems and equipment, from acquisition through distribution. This role supports all station operations. This role reports to the Chief Engineer.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain on-air operations, including the playback of commercials, network programming, and local content. 
  • Operate and troubleshoot master control automation systems. 
  • Comply with FCC monitoring requirements and Emergency Alert System (EAS) procedures. 
  • Operate studio equipment such as robotic camera system, audio equipment including audio board, production switchers, graphics systems, and video servers.
  • Collaborate with field crews to coordinate cellular (TVU) live shots. 
  • Ingest and prepare content for on-air playback. 
  • Assist Systems Technologists with facility projects and maintenance of the technical plant, as needed. 
  • Utilize basic multimedia computer skills and demonstrate familiarity with current internet technologies. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Chief Engineer and Chief Engineer.
  • Maintain regular in-person attendance as required. 

Requirements:

  • Minimum of one year of experience as an operations Technician or Engineer in a commercial television station, with hands-on experience operating a wide range of broadcast equipment. 
  • Strong understanding of broadcast television systems and operations. 
  • Availability to work all shifts, including holidays.
