TMZ is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Broadcast Engineer to support the technical infrastructure behind our live and recorded television, digital, and streaming productions. The Broadcast Engineer will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing broadcast systems, production equipment, transmission paths, and newsroom technology to ensure reliable, high-quality content delivery across multiple platforms.

This role requires a proactive problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven news and entertainment environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and support broadcast, production, and post-production systems.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot video, audio, routing, and transmission
  • Perform preventative maintenance and system upgrades on broadcast equipment.
  • Support live studio productions, remote broadcasts, and special event coverage.
  • Studio camera maintenance - chipping, shading, menu settings, time-code, reference, signal ow
  • Post production engineering support as needed - troubleshooting workstations, storage, export, etc.
  • Production responsibilities may be assigned according to workload -feeds, recording, camera operation, audio
  • Congure and maintain video servers, storage systems, automation systems, and asset management platforms.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues affecting on-air operations and digital content distribution.
  • Collaborate with production, newsroom, and IT teams to ensure seamless workows.
  • Assist with equipment installations, integrations, and technology refresh projects.

Required Qualications:

  • 10+ years of experience supporting broadcast television or live production environments.
  • Strong understanding of Video routing and signal ow, Audio systems and mixing infrastructure, DI, IP video transport, SMPTE standards, Broadcast automation systems, Video servers and storage systems, Transmission and distribution technologies
  • Candidate must be a self starter and highly organized
  • Ability to work exible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays when required.
  • Experience supporting news or entertainment television operations
