Job description

Not your average fintech company

As Canada’s leading online lender, Journey Capital is dedicated to helping clients with a collaborative, adaptive, and customer-centric approach. We are setting new benchmarks in the industry by embracing innovation, transparency, and ethical lending standards.

About the opportunity

We’re hiring a hands-on VP, Product & Innovation to lead product strategy and execution across our lending portfolio. Reporting to the CEO, you’ll own the roadmap, lead 2 Product Managers, 1 Business Analyst and work closely with Sales, Credit, Operations, Compliance, Finance, Data, and Technology to improve the borrower experience, modernize lending workflows, and drive practical product innovation. This is a high-impact role for a builder who wants to shape how Canadian small businesses access capital through speed, transparency, and responsible lending.

Responsibilities

The position title will be responsible for:

  • Own product strategy and roadmap across core lending products
  • Improve the borrower journey from application through funding, servicing, and renewal
  • Drive innovation that improves growth, operational efficiency, and portfolio performance through data driven decision making
  • Enhance operational workflows through better tooling, automation, and data
  • Turn commercial priorities into clear product decisions and measurable outcomes
  • Support new partnership opportunities where relevant
  • Ensure business needs translate into clear product requirements, user stories, and execution plans
  • Coach 2 Product Managers and 1 Business Analyst, while staying close to execution
  • Lead AI transformation and automation use cases, with experience leading change management to support adoption of new tools, workflows, and ways of working

What you’re bringing to the table

Alongside unwavering ethical principles, you showcase:

  • 5+ years of product leadership experience, with expertise across operations, consulting, and strategy
  • Experience in fintech, alternative lending, small business lending, payments, or another regulated financial services environment
  • Experience operating in a fast-paced, high-growth environment (e.g., scaling a product, business line, or startup), with a bias toward action and comfort with ambiguity
  • A builder mindset, comfortable rolling up your sleeves, shipping quickly, and improving products through continuous iteration rather than long planning cycles
  • A hands-on style with the ability to move from strategy to execution quickly
  • Strong judgment, analytical fluency, and cross-functional leadership skills
  • Familiarity with APIs, integrations, or embedded finance
  • Knowledge of a language other than French is required for this position due to the nature of the duties, which involve regular communication with clients, partners, or stakeholders who do not speak French

The Perks :

  • Competitive compensation
  • Flexible work schedule
  • Remote or in-office work
  • Personalized benefits program
  • $1,500 for professional training and classes
  • Free English or French tutoring classes
  • Free gym access
  • Free coffee & snacks
  •  Regular events & team building activities

Empowering Canadian entrepreneurs

  • We deliver a seamless remote experience that gives our clients the peace of mind to move their business forward. Our aim is to equip underserved Canadian entrepreneurs with the right credit, tools and experience to help them reach their financial objectives fast.
