What is a Tutor Executive Function Coach?

A Tutor Executive Function Coach is a professional who works with students to develop and strengthen their executive function skills, such as organization, time management, planning, and self-regulation. These coaches often support students with learning differences like ADHD or those who struggle with academic tasks due to difficulties in these areas. The coach uses personalized strategies and tools to help students become more independent and successful in their academic and everyday lives. Sessions may include goal setting, creating routines, managing assignments, and building problem-solving skills.

How does a Tutor Executive Function Coach typically work with students to address organizational and time management challenges?

A Tutor Executive Function Coach collaborates closely with students to identify specific organizational and time management difficulties, such as prioritizing assignments or managing deadlines. Through regular one-on-one sessions, coaches teach students strategies like breaking tasks into manageable steps, using planners, and setting achievable goals. They often communicate with parents, teachers, or other support staff to ensure a consistent approach and monitor progress. This role requires patience and adaptability, as each student may need a tailored plan and ongoing encouragement to build lasting executive function skills.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Tutor Executive Function Coach, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Tutor Executive Function Coach, you need a background in education, psychology, or a related field, with expertise in executive functioning skills and learning strategies. Familiarity with tools such as digital planners, scheduling apps, and student progress tracking systems is often required, and certifications in coaching or special education can be advantageous. Strong communication, patience, and motivational skills are essential to effectively support students and foster self-regulation. These competencies are crucial for empowering students to develop organizational skills, improve academic performance, and achieve greater independence.

Job description

In-Person Tutors (All Subjects, All Grade Levels).

About the Role:
SiSTEM is hiring experienced tutors to work in person with motivated students and families in the Manvel / Pomona area.
This is not a volume tutoring gig. Our tutors work as trusted academic partners with families who value expertise, helping students build real understanding, stronger study strategies, and confidence in their coursework.
In-person availability is required. That can look like a lot of different things: sessions at a student's home, a public library, a community space, a coffee shop, a school, or your own location. If you can meet students face to face somewhere in the Manvel / Pomona area, we want to hear from you.

What You Can Tutor:
If you can tutor any of the following, apply:
  • Math: elementary math, pre-algebra, algebra I and II, geometry, trigonometry, pre-calculus, calculus, statistics.
  • Science: elementary science, life science, biology, chemistry, physics, environmental science, anatomy and physiology.
  • English and Language Arts: reading fluency and comprehension, grammar and mechanics, writing and composition, literature, essay and college application writing.
  • Social Studies and History: world history, U.S. history, government, economics, geography.
  • World Languages: Spanish, French, ASL, and others.
  • Computer Science and Technology: intro programming, AP Computer Science, robotics, general tech skills.
  • Advanced and Honors Coursework: Honors, Pre-AP, AP, IB, and dual credit college courses.
  • Test Prep: SAT, ACT, PSAT, STAAR, TSI, ISEE, SSAT, GED, AP exams.
  • Study Skills and Executive Function: organization, time management, note-taking, test-taking strategy, homework routines.
  • You do not need to tutor every subject or every grade level. If you specialize in elementary reading only, or AP Chemistry only, or anything in between, we want you on our team.

About SiSTEM:
SiSTEM is an academic guidance platform that builds personalized roadmaps for students in grades K-12. Every student on SiSTEM has a plan. Tutors are a key part of that plan and are matched to students based on specific needs, not random availability.
We started as a tutoring agency in Texas, grew to 300+ tutors serving 10,000+ students, and are now launching a platform that gives educators better tools, better-matched students, and the ability to build a real client base.

What You'll Do:
  • Work one-on-one and in person with students in grades K-12 in your subject areas.
  • Help students develop deeper conceptual understanding, not just finish homework.
  • Build the study habits, problem-solving strategies, and confidence that carry across subjects.
  • Identify and close gaps in foundational skills that are holding students back.
  • Align your sessions with each student's broader academic roadmap through SiSTEM's planning tools.
  • Communicate with families on progress and strategy when appropriate.
  • Maintain high standards of preparation and professionalism.

What We're Looking For:
We are selective about who joins the SiSTEM team.
Strong candidates typically have:
  • 3+ years of teaching, tutoring, or academic mentoring experience.
  • Deep expertise in at least one subject and grade band listed above.
  • Reliable transportation and the ability to meet students in person in the [CITY/REGION] area.
  • Experience working with motivated students in honors, Pre-AP, AP, IB, gifted, dual credit, or test prep settings.
  • A track record of helping students improve grades, build confidence, or master concepts they previously struggled with.
  • Clear, patient communication and the ability to make a subject click for students who think they are "not a math person" or "not a writer".
  • Professional reliability.

Applicants must have completed high school. Current high school students are not eligible.

Bonus: Current or former classroom teachers, professionals who tutor in their field, educators with degrees in their subject area, and tutors with experience across multiple grade bands.

Why Tutors Join SiSTEM:
  • You set your own rates, and you keep 100% of what you earn.
  • Matched with students who fit your expertise. No random assignments. Students are matched to you based on subject, grade level, learning needs, and your teaching strengths.
  • Bring your current students with you. Already have clients? Add them to the platform for free and manage them alongside new students at no extra cost.
  • Families are already invested. SiSTEM parents are paying for a plan. They are engaged, responsive, and serious about their child's growth.
  • We handle the marketing. You don't have to find clients. We bring families to you.
  • Tools to manage your business. Scheduling, session tracking, and student relationship tools built into the platform.
  • Build a long-term client base. Students on SiSTEM stay for years, not weeks.

To Apply:
If you can tutor any of the subjects listed above and can meet students in person, register your interest at www.sistemtutoring.com/tutors and click Apply to fill out our form. Tell us what subjects and grade levels you specialize in, your experience, where you are able to meet students, and what makes you effective.
