Job description

Description:
The Shakopee School District has an opening for two AVID tutors. These positions work during the school year Monday through Friday approximately 29 hours/week. AVID tutors travel between Shakopee East and West Middle Schools and Shakopee High School. Reliable transportation is required. 
Pay & Benefits:
Compensation Range: $21.34 - $27.00 per hour, based on experience. The following benefits are also available-

Job summary:
- Attend required AVID tutor training 
- Conduct weekly binder checks and facilitate tutorial sessions with small groups of students using AVID methods
- Become familiar with materials used by AVID students
- Communicate regularly with AVID teachers and AVID district director regarding students' progress and areas of concern
- Follow all AVID and school rules and policies and set an example of personal excellence and high expectations for AVID students to follow
- Assist at AVID special events
- May have opportunities to chaperone AVID field trips
Qualifications:
- Must be a college student in good academic standing or college graduate
- Must have a strong academic background
