Job Description

Responsible for supporting the Center for Learning & Student Support by performing a wide range of basic clerical/office tasks for the University. This student employment opportunity supports the development of skills aligned with the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) Career Readiness Competencies. Through this role, students will strengthen the following competencies:

  • Professionalism: Students build professionalism by practicing dependability, accountability, confidentiality when applicable, workplace etiquette, and respectful service in a workplace setting.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The following identifies the primary and essential functions of the position and is not intended to be an exhaustive listing of all duties.

  • Greets all office visitors and acts as the first contact for those who visit the Center.
  • Assists students in creating accounts in Navigate, CLASS's online scheduling program, and helps schedule appointments for those requesting tutoring/writing assistance.
  • Answers phones, responds to email inquiries, takes messages, and completes general administrative duties as necessary to help keep the office running smoothly and efficiently.
  • Sends nightly reminders to tutors and writing staff regarding upcoming appointments.
  • Maintains the tidiness of the CLASS office area.
  • Creates promotional materials for the CLASS services.
  • Oversee the floor of the tutoring center. Directs students to their tutor upon arrival and maintains the flow of traffic.
  • Assists with data entry and cleanup of appointment records.
  • Other tasks or projects as assigned by supervisor.
  • Supports CLASS staff.
  • Exhibits appropriate and professional behavior.
  • Responsible, dependable and punctual in the completion of assigned tasks, and in notifying the appropriate staff when conflicts or problems occur.
  • Flexibility in work hours to ensure adequate coverage, etc.
Qualifications

MUST BE A STUDENT AT SAINT XAVIER UNIVERSITY

Must be Federal Work Study Eligible

Must Include a Resume and Cover Letter

  • CLASS Student Worker Qualifications To be considered for employment as a student worker in the CLASS, students must:
    • Be Federal Work Study Eligible
    • Be a current Saint Xavier University student.
    • Provide excellent customer service.
    • Be responsible, dependable, and punctual.
    • Possess excellent communication and computer skills.
    • Be able to work independently and to take initiative in fulfilling responsibilities.
    • Be able to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.
    • Be proficient in Microsoft Word, Publisher, and Excel.
    Description of Hours:
    • Up to 8 hours a week
