Special Education Autism Specialist Tutor

Prep Academy Tutors is seeking compassionate, experienced Special Education Autism Specialist Tutor to support students across Simcoe & Grey County (specifically Barrie and Collingwood). We are looking for dedicated educators and specialists who are passionate about helping neurodivergent learners build confidence, independence, and academic success through individualized instruction.

This is a flexible, rewarding opportunity for professionals who thrive in one-on-one learning environments and value relationship-based teaching.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver personalized academic support tailored to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Adapt teaching methods, materials, and pacing to meet individual learning needs
  • Foster emotional regulation, executive functioning, communication, and social development where appropriate
  • Collaborate with families, the Prep Academy Tutors team, and/or a Registered Behaviour Analyst to support student progress
  • Create engaging, supportive, and structured learning experiences
  • Maintain professionalism, empathy, and consistency in all interactions

Qualifications

  • Background in Special Education, Autism & Behavioural Science, Psychology, Child & Youth Work, Occupational Therapy, Speech-Language support, or related fields
  • Experience working with children or youth with ASD in educational, therapeutic, or support settings
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patient, adaptable, and student-centered approach
  • Teaching certification is considered an asset but is not required
  • Access to reliable transportation within Simcoe & Grey County
