Job description

Job Title: Generator Mechanical Engineer

Location: Schenectady, NY (Onsite – 5 days a week)

Hire Type: Fulltime

Job Summary:

  • 5-8 years of experience in an engineering role.
  • Knowledge of power generation Generators.
  • Familiar with PLM.
  • Familiar with GE Generator Bill of Materials is desired.
  • Assist in engineering qualification of stator bars and H35 Generator with supplier.
  • Assist in qualification of H53 Generator with supplier.
  • Support H65 dual source qualifications for punching.
  • Create test plans, implement the test plan and documentation.
  • Support qualification of outsourced generators.
  • Work with internal teams on interfaces and meeting technical requirements.
  • Track weekly Mfg progress at suppliers and respond to SDRs and update drawings/BOMs as necessary.
  • Create BOMs.
  • Complete PLM assigned tasks.
  • Support Mfg and Sourcing in Industrialization projects and Top 20 Generator projects as well as qualification efforts to improve producibility.
  • Respond to SDRs.
  • Fluent in English is required

Requirement and Skills:

  • CAD: NX 2206, AutoCAD
  • Enovia, Teamcenter
  • Ansys, Abacus, Hypermesh
  • MS office: MS Excel , Word , PowerPoint , Microsoft Project
  • Project Management foundation, Project Management,
  • Documentation

Desire Characteristics:

  • Fluency in German desired.
  • Experienced with Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Experience working in an independent and highly matrixed environment, coordinating across multiple sites, functions, and time zones, with simultaneous projects. Takes initiative and quickly raises issues for help
  • Strong bias for action; mechanically minded; high energy. Demonstrated high organizational skills, enjoys structured, transactional, process-oriented work
  • Strong team player, excellent interpersonal skills; verbal, written communication skills, and presentation skills knowing when to use more technical detail and when to summarize; ability to work with fellow engineers as well as leaders at customer
  • Solid analytical competencies, ability to troubleshoot quickly and on-the-fly, especially at customer locations

Education:

  • Masters or Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering
