Job description

Kellington is seeking dedicated and highly professional School Security Officers (SSOs) for the upcoming academic year. These roles support a safe and positive learning environment across various school districts in and around the Greater Pittsburgh region.

Schedules & Compensation: Start/end times, work calendars, and pay rates vary by district.

Pre-Employment Requirements

Candidates must successfully complete the following clearances (upon hire):

  • ACT 151 – PA Child Abuse Clearance

  • ACT 34 – PA State Police Criminal Record Check

  • ACT 114 – FBI Fingerprinting

  • Tuberculosis (TB) Test

Mandatory Training (Provided & Paid):

  • NASRO (National Association of School Resource Officers) Certification

  • ACT 126 – Mandated Reporter Training

  • CPR/First Aid/AED Certification

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage proactively with students, staff, and school administrators

  • Respond swiftly and appropriately to escalated situations and emergencies

  • Support de-escalation efforts for students in crisis

  • Monitor school grounds, including door and window security checks

  • Assist with traffic control and pedestrian safety on campus

  • Promote and maintain strong partnerships with community stakeholders

  • Uphold and enforce school policies and behavior expectations

Qualifications:

  • Ability to pass all required clearances

  • Physical fitness certification

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Proven ability to collaborate in team environments and work independently as needed
