ABOUT FIREFLY AEROSPACE

Firefly Aerospace is a space and defense technology company enabling the world to launch, land, and operate in space anywhere, anytime. The only commercial company to achieve a successful Moon landing and deliver a satellite to orbit on 24-hour notice, Firefly provides government and commercial customers with full mission services from low Earth orbit to the Moon and beyond. Headquartered in north Austin, Texas, our manufacturing and test facility is located in Briggs, TX.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Orbital/Tube Welders at Firefly are hands-on builders of the propulsion hardware that powers our vehicles to space. As a Level 2 OTW, you will perform precision tube fabrication and orbital welding operations in support of our propulsion manufacturing team. That means working from blueprints and schematics, fabricating and fitting fluid system components, and producing welds that meet the exacting standards of aerospace production. If you have real orbital/tube welding experience and a background in precision fabrication, we want to hear from you.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Fabrication & Welding Operations

  • Perform orbital and tube welding operations on propulsion and fluid system hardware
  • Execute general fabrication tasks including facing, deburring, and hand bending of tubes and lines
  • Interpret and work from welding blueprints, schematics, and manufacturing order documentation

Quality & Documentation

  • Inspect completed welds and fabricated hardware for conformance to applicable standards and drawings
  • Document work performed, create NCRs for non-conforming hardware, and support redline incorporation as needed
  • Escalate quality, fit, or documentation issues to Manufacturing Engineering or Quality as appropriate

Shop Standards & Safety

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and FOD-controlled work environment
  • Follow established procedures for handling and processing precision aerospace hardware
  • Participate in safety walkthroughs and comply with all chemical and shop safety requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Technical Skills Required

  • 2 to 4 years of hands-on orbital/tube welding experience
  • General fabrication experience including facing, deburring, and hand bending of tubes
  • Ability to read and interpret welding blueprints and schematics
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to workmanship quality

Technical Skills Preferred

  • 3 to 4 years of orbital/tube welding experience in a production environment
  • 2 years of aerospace manufacturing experience
  • Welding certifications (not required but valued)
  • Familiarity with D17.1 Aerospace Welding Standard
  • Experience having welds qualified through non-destructive testing (NDT)

Physical & Schedule Requirements

  • Able to climb ladders and stairs
  • Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. for limited durations
  • Schedule flexibility required; ability to work nights, weekends, and overtime as needed
