Job description

Truss Production Worker
Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Truss Production Manager, engineered drawings are read and then used to build wood floor and roof trusses. This job functions in a fast-paced manner and requires accuracy and team work.
Essential Functions
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
  • Operate heavy machinery to load bunks of lumber onto carts; then pushed into production shop
  • Unload the cart in an organized fashion onto floor
  • Pick up lumber from floor and place onto table according to engineered design.
  • Staple wood components together
  • Place the appropriate size of metal plates on the truss joints
  • Operate truss press

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibility.
Work Environment
This is a manufacturing plant environment that includes both inside and outside work. The worker will be standing on concrete floors or on truss production tables while bending over running power tools. The area can be noisy due to the use of power equipment. Climate temperatures change with the seasons. Personal Protective Equipment is provided, such as gloves, safety glasses and ear plugs.
Physical Demands
This job requires the ability to lift and pull heavy loads and the ability to work in a bent over position. The worker may be subject to extreme heat or cold temperatures at times; depending on the season.
Travel
Occasionally the need arises to make jobsites visits, that may include out of town travel.
