Savannah Logistics Group is seeking a highly skilled Tow Truck Driver (CDL-A) to support heavy-duty towing and transport operations. This role is critical to ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient movement of oversized and disabled commercial vehicles. The ideal candidate brings big rig towing experience, a CDL-A license, strong DOT inspection knowledge, an excellent driving record, and hands-on diesel mechanic experience.

Tow Truck Driver (CDL-A) Job Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as Tow Truck Driver (CDL-A) to oversized loads, disabled tractors, and heavy equipment transports.
  • Coordinate closely with drivers to ensure safe routing, clearance, and compliance.
  • Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections in accordance with DOT regulations.
  • Monitor road conditions, traffic patterns, and route hazards; communicate proactively with the tow team.
  • Assist with roadside breakdown support and minor mechanical troubleshooting when needed.
  • Verify permits, signage, lighting, and escort equipment meet regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain constant communication via radio/phone with towing operators and dispatch.
  • Provide traffic control and safety oversight during recovery and transport operations.
  • Represent the company professionally when interacting with law enforcement, DOT officials, and the public.
  • Maintain accurate logs, inspection reports, and compliance documentation.

Required Qualifications
  • Valid CDL Class A license.
  • Proven big rig towing expertise.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, inspections, and safety compliance.
  • Excellent driving record with a commitment to safety.
  • Hands-on diesel mechanic experience with ability to troubleshoot equipment issues.
  • Ability to read and follow route surveys, permits, and clearance requirements.
  • Strong communication and situational awareness skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends as operations require.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in heavy recovery or wrecker operations.
  • Experience working with law enforcement and DOT during roadside operations.

Physical Requirements
