What is a Tru?

Truancy officers, also known as attendance officers, are professionals who work with schools and families to address and reduce student absenteeism. Their primary role is to ensure that students attend school regularly and to intervene when students have unexcused absences. They often investigate cases of chronic truancy, collaborate with school staff, and help connect families with resources or support services. By doing so, truancy officers play a key role in promoting student success and compliance with education laws.
