Job description

Texas Meter & Device is hiring for a full-time water meter reader in the Georgetown, Tx area.

This is a full-time position and we need someone that is available to start soon.

Under the general direction of the Project/Field Supervisor, the Meter Reader will be reading residential and commercial water meters.

Responsibilities include:

  • Will read residential class and commercial class water meters
  • Use a hand held device provided by the company to record accurate read information
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed
  • Oversee any materials, uniforms, equipment, vehicle and tools required to complete the work
  • Be punctual and dependable to a set work schedule
  • Recording of subsequent information in the field as required
  • Coordinate scheduling and meets quality / quantity requirements
  • Provide for excellence in internal and external customer service by creating a positive experience for customers, end users and communities through professional and courteous behavior and producing high quality results
  • Demonstrate, at all times, safety in all aspects of the work including driving, parking, accessing customer property, and adherence to all TMD safety standards and operating procedures
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned or necessary

Requirements:

  • Must reside within a reasonable commute to the Georgetown, Tx area as no per diem nor relocation allowance is associated with this position.
  • Mechanical aptitude is necessary
  • Ability to use hand held device and other equipment as required for the position
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to stand on feet, bend or stoop for a prolonged period of time. The work is performed outdoors and through inclement weather as necessary
  • Ability to carry out duties in a safe and efficient manner
  • Stable Multi-year Work History

  • Previous meter reading experience preferred but not required
  • Good Communication Skills (speaking, reading and writing)
  • Must have a valid driver's license and excellent driving record
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age and have a minimum of 3 years of personal or professional driving experience due to insurance requirements
  • Must have own personal Smart phone
  • Ability to safely operate a company vehicle at all times
  • Additional Requirements: Background check clearance including drug screening and I-9 documentation as required by law

Shift and Pay Info:

After training, pay is $23/hour and will be tied to production requirements.

Training wage is $18/hr and training generally lasts 2-5 days .

Monday – Friday, with Saturday work REQUIRED at times
