Position Summary
The Mission Delivery Coordinator - Troop Support stewards strong, supportive relationships with volunteers, ensuring they are equipped to deliver the Girl Scout Leadership Experience and successfully manage troop operations. They partner with Service Areas to expand opportunities for volunteers, youth, and families through events and support. Centering equity and belonging, Coordinators contribute to strategies that advance parity in volunteer and youth retention across race and ethnicity.
This position will be based in the central region of our council - Wausau, WI / Stevens Point, WI area.
Key Responsibilities
- Guide all volunteers within the assigned geography to ensure successful onboarding, start-up, ongoing troop management, and delivery of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.
- Become an expert in the troop volunteer role, Girl Scout Leadership Experience, volunteer-facing technology, and best practices to offer support and coaching for volunteers.
- Collaborate with Service Area volunteers to design, plan, and ensure execution of volunteer-led events, offering at least 4 events beyond Service Area boundaries annually.
- Collaborate with Service Area volunteers to plan and implement volunteer offerings, including school year kick-offs, product program trainings, and volunteer appreciation opportunities.
- Communicate timely information, opportunities, and deadlines to volunteers.
- Respond to volunteer questions and requests; engage in problem-solving and providing solutions; manage and effectively respond appropriately to all inquiries, including but not limited to email, phone, social media, and in-person.
- Mediate when conflicts arise between volunteers and/or caregivers.
- Share feedback and insight gained from volunteers with the Mission Delivery department to identify opportunities for improving volunteer experience.
- Coordinate the annual Girl Scouts of Distinction event.
- Implement DEIRJ strategies that advance parity in retention across race and ethnicity.
- Ensure youth and adult safety through education and promotion of safe practices and consistent interpretation of GSUSA and GSNWGL policies, standards, and procedures.
- Support council functions through promotion of council-sponsored activities, meetings, and volunteer opportunities.

- Volunteer Engagement - Understands the essential role of volunteers in advancing the Girl Scout mission and integrates them effectively into council operations. Demonstrates flexibility in meeting volunteer needs, applies best practices in recruitment, training, supervision, and recognition, and ensures compliance with policies and legal requirements. Maximizes volunteer contributions through effective delegation, support, and accountability while fostering meaningful relationships that honor volunteer accomplishments.
- Youth Programming - Understands the principles of child and adolescent development and applies them to create safe, inclusive, and engaging environments for Girl Scouts. Serves as a trusted adult who models respect, provides appropriate guidance, and ensures emotional and physical safety. Designs and delivers outcomes-based programming that supports growth, leadership, and belonging. Uses effective strategies for positive behavior management while affirming each child's strengths and potential. Adapts to the diverse physical, mental, behavioral, and emotional needs of youth. Affirms the identities of all participants and ensures accessibility so each child can thrive.
Qualifications
- Education and/or experience relevant to the responsibilities and competencies listed.
- Valid driver's license, good driving record, and reliable transportation. Occasional travel is required and is almost entirely local in nature.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings, weekends, and overnights.
- The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally required to sit for prolonged periods of time. The employee is occasionally required to move, and to frequently operate office equipment manually.
- Bilingual abilities (Spanish, Hmong, or other languages commonly spoken in our geography) are a plus.

- Must be (or become) a registered Girl Scout member.

- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and a willingness to travel regularly throughout our council.
