Their responsibilities include preparing questions, explaining rules, engaging the audience, and ensuring the event runs smoothly and fairly. Trivia Hosts must be personable, quick-thinking, and knowledgeable across a range of topics to keep participants entertained and the game moving. They may work for entertainment companies, event planners, or as freelancers for special occasions. This role requires strong communication skills and the ability to create a fun, competitive atmosphere.

The roles differ mainly in scope, environment, and audience size, but both share core hosting skills.

What are some common challenges Trivia Hosts face during live events, and how can they handle them effectively?

Trivia Hosts often encounter challenges such as managing diverse audiences, handling technical difficulties, and keeping the energy high throughout the event. Balancing the pace of the game while ensuring everyone understands the rules is crucial. Effective hosts are prepared with backup questions, maintain a positive attitude, and quickly adapt to unexpected situations, such as tiebreakers or disputes over answers. Strong communication and improvisation skills help create a fun and seamless experience for all participants.

As a trivia host, your job is to host regular trivia games at a bar or restaurant, often as part of a larger game night. A trivia host may also work at special events, such as parties or large gatherings. In this role, you may select trivia categories, pick questions and answers, and manage each game throughout the night. In some cases, a trivia host customizes games based on player requests, such as including certain themes or difficulty levels. This job is a form of an event host, so consider looking under broader terms to find available positions in your area.

Description:

Sharetec is looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our team!

At Sharetec, we believe in a people-first business. Our mission is to make millions of peopleโ€™s lives easier by developing innovative core banking and lending software solutions for credit unions and their members. Our customers rely on us for powerful financial technology that enhances operations across accounting, lending, member services, and online banking and they count on us to be a caring, trusted partner in their success.

We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our Platform Engineering organization. This role is ideal for a senior engineer who enjoys ownership, automation, and improving how complex systems are deployed and operated.

This is a full-time, exempt, remote position open to candidates residing in any U.S. state, with the exception of California. The starting salary for this position is $120,000 - $140,000 based on experience.

Who Will Love This Job:

  • Someone who enjoys owning production deployments and taking responsibility for outcomes.
  • Someone energized by building automation that eliminates manual work and improves delivery consistency.
  • Someone with strong Windows and IIS experience who enjoys tuning and optimizing application hosting.
  • Someone excited to work on mobile application deployments (iOS & Android) at scale.
  • Someone interested in helping shape future platform direction, including containerized deployments.
  • Someone who values collaboration, clear communication, and practical problem-solving.

What Youโ€™ll Do:

Mobile Deployment Ownership

  • Own end-to-end deployment, publishing, and configuration for iOS and Android mobile applications.
  • Manage App Store Connect and Google Play Console workflows, including signing, provisioning, and compliance.
  • Automate mobile build and release processes to improve consistency and reduce manual effort.
  • Coordinate closely with Engineering, Product, and Professional Services teams to ensure smooth releases.

Automation & Infrastructure-as-Code

  • Design, build, and maintain Ansible automation for deployments, APIs, IIS configuration, certificate rotation, and environment standardization.
  • Use Terraform to provision and manage infrastructure in a repeatable, auditable manner.
  • Reduce configuration drift by establishing infrastructure-as-code as the source of truth.
  • Create reusable automation patterns that support both mobile and backend systems.

Application Hosting & Platform Support

  • Operate and tune IIS in Windows-based production environments, including performance optimization and safe restarts.
  • Apply transferable web-server concepts from Apache or Nginx where applicable.
  • Support containerized workloads (Docker/Kubernetes) and help guide their adoption as part of the platformโ€™s future state.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipeline improvements that support reliable, predictable deployments.

What You Bring:

  • 5โ€“8 years of experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, or related roles supporting production systems.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Ansible for deployment and configuration automation.
  • Working experience with Terraform or similar infrastructure-as-code tools.
  • Hands-on experience deploying mobile applications (iOS & Android).
  • Strong IIS experience in Windows-based production environments.
  • Experience supporting production SaaS platforms and troubleshooting across application and infrastructure layers.
  • Scripting skills in PowerShell, Bash, C#, or Python.
  • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and modern CI/CD pipelines.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with Progress/OpenEdge or similar legacy platforms.
  • Exposure to container orchestration or platform modernization efforts.
  • Familiarity with authentication and identity flows (OAuth2, JWT, SSO).

Education:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Relevant certifications are a plus, but not required.
