Job description

JOB INFORMATION The TRIO Coordinator is responsible for coordinating services for TRIO program participants at Chemeketa Yamhill Valley Campus, including recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing support. Actively participates in identifying and enrolling eligible students, tracks student progress and program objectives, and provides direct services to an assigned caseload of participants to support their academic success, retention, graduation and transfer. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Coordination Coordinates all grant activities of federal TRIO program in alignment with federal regulations, institutional policies, and approved grant application to achieve successful achievement of program objectives Plans, coordinates, and executes program activities and events including orientations, workshops, campus visits and other program events Implements the delivery of TRIO student services including success coaching and individualized support for program participants Monitors, tracks, and analyzes progress toward TRIO program objectives and goals to ensure targets are met Prepares accurate Annual Performance Report Data in accordance with US Department of Education requirements Collaborates with the campus community to build partnerships and foster cross-departmental engagement in support of TRIO program objectives and student success Success Coaching/Advising Provides academic, career, transfer, financial aid and personal advising to students in TRIO regarding: college programs, financial aid, admissions, registration, transfer programs, college transfer requirements, student success resources; community resources and services, and strategies for success Develops Academic Pathway Plan with each student addressing both long-term and short-term academic, career, and transfer goals and assists students with planning to accomplish goals; modifies plan with student as needed Monitors student progress and utilizes early alert system to proactively identify academic and personal needs; delivers targeted interventions, makes appropriate referrals and provides individualized success coaching to support student retention, graduation, and transfer goals Inputs detailed case notes to document student interactions, progress, and support services provided Program Support Leads recruitment efforts by reviewing and verifying TRIO program applications from admitted Chemeketa students; conducts eligibility screenings, interviews prospective participants, and recommends candidates to the Director for acceptance Contributes to annual program planning and evaluation, collaborating with team members to assess effectiveness and enhance service delivery Assists students with advising holds for TRIO student caseload Develops and administers survey to assess student needs and satisfaction with services/ works as a team to utilize survey to improve program services Tracks TRIO budget expenditures to ensure compliance with grant guidelines Institutional Expectations Embraces diversity and actively collaborates effectively with a variety of students, staff and the public from diverse cultural, social, economic and educational backgrounds Participates in recruitment and retention of students at an individual and institutional level in promotion of student success Embraces, understands and uses appropriate technology tools to accomplish job functions Provides high quality, effective service to internal and external customers through continuous improvement and adoption of lean office practices CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS Your application will be scored based on the minimum qualifications, core competencies, and preferred qualifications listed below

Minimum Qualifications: Grant funding requires the following for this position: Bachelor's degree -AND- Minimum 3 year in higher education, or providing services to at-risk students -AND- Bilingual Spanish/English -AND- Similar background to that of project participants -AND- A valid driver's license Core Competencies: Excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration skills Experience working with academic support programs for disadvantaged students Knowledge of database systems to track student outcomes Ability to collaborate with other departments Effective written and oral communication skills Problem solving skills Bicultural/multicultural skills sufficient to select appropriate behaviors, values and attitudes within different cultures during interactions with others. Preferred Qualifications: Experience advising at-risk students at the community college level Training and experience in areas related to project objectives Similarity in background to that of project participants Coursework and/or Master's degree from an accredited institution in counseling, advising, student services or adult education ADDITIONAL INFORMATION SCHEDULE & MODALITY Regular remote/hybrid work is not a feature of this position. At the supervisor's discretion, exemptions may be made for special projects or responsibilities requiring periodic needed focus time.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT This is a 100%, 12-month classified assignment at pay grade This position has a 6-month probationary period All positions at Chemeketa are required to be available for work onsite as requested by the college. Must have valid driver's license to transport students in college vehicles Requires flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include evenings and/or weekends This position may require the use of your personal vehicle for transportation between campus locations If requested, requires the provision of official transcripts upon hire Employees must maintain Oregon, Washington or Idaho residency as a condition of employment. Successful applicants for designated positions must successfully pass a background inquiry, which may include criminal, driving, credit and full background checks.

Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary requirements are met.
