Shipping Forklift Operator 2nd Shift Motley Dc

Trident Seafoods is North America's largest vertically integrated seafood harvesting and processing company. Trident is a privately held, 100 percent USA-owned company with global operations in 6 countries and serves customers in almost 60 countries. Headquartered in Seattle, Washington (USA), Trident employs approximately 7,700 people worldwide each year and partners with over 2,700 independent fishermen and crewmembers in Alaska. Trident catches and processes virtually every commercial species of salmon, whitefish, and crab harvested in the North Pacific and Alaska. The global supply chain also encompasses cultured and wild species sourced from an international network of trusted suppliers.

Summary:

Drives gasoline, liquified gas, or electric powered industrial truck equipped with lifting devices such as forklift, boom, scoop, lift beam and swivel hook, fork grapple, clamps, elevating platform, or trailer hitch, to push, pull, lift, stack, tier, or move products, equipment, or materials.

Essential Functions:

  • Moves levers and presses pedals to drive truck and control movement of lifting apparatus.
  • Positions forks, lifting platform, or other lifting device under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products, or materials and transports load to designated area.
  • Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
  • Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, records shortages, rejects damaged items, and notifies Food Safety Quality Assurance of damaged and out of Spec. items.
  • Unloads and stacks material by raising and lowering lifting device.
  • Inventories materials on work floor, and supply workers with materials as needed.
  • Scans all inbound and outbound pallets.
  • Weighs materials or products and records weight on tags or production schedules and applies barcode labels.
  • Loads or unloads materials onto or off of pallets, skids, or lifting device.
  • Lubricates truck, recharges/changes batteries, fills fuel tank, or replaces liquefied gas tank.
  • Will be assigned work in sub-zero freezer area with proper company PPE provided.
  • Uses SAP program to look up and verify shipment details, print labels and bills.
  • Follows plant food safety and quality policies and procedures

This is a nonexempt position with an hourly rate of $21.75 $24.57 per hour.

Trident Seafoods offers a comprehensive and quality benefits package. Full-time employees may be eligible for discretionary/performance-based incentives, medical, dental and vision insurance plans, optional HRA/HSA, telemedicine, employee assistance and wellness programs, long-term disability, basic life and AD&D, and 401(k) with a company match, paid time off, 10 paid holidays each year, and paid parental leave. Fulltime employees accrue vacation each pay period starting on their first day of employment, up to 112 hours per year, and are eligible for up to 48 hours of sick leave per year, in accordance with company policy.

Minimum Requirements

Travel/On-Call Requirements: Not required for this position.

Required Qualifications: (Education, Years of Experience, Certifications)

  • Three to six months experience driving forklifts.
  • Must be forklift certified, or able to become forklift certified. Must be able to qualify for lift truck certification within 2 weeks.

Preferred Education & Experiences:

  • Six months of experience in food processing

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Must have the ability to read and understand written documents.
  • Basic computer skills are required to perform job duties.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of the job employees will be exposed freezing temperatures.

Work Ability Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel and crouch. The employee lifts and carries objects up to 10 lbs regularly and up to 50 lbs occasionally.
