Nationwide Search Group has been exclusively retained to identify and recruit a distinguished physician leader for the position of Medical Director.
The Medical Director bridges the gap between clinical practice and corporate administration. This executive role is responsible for the governance of the medical staff, clinical quality assurance, patient safety protocols, and the implementation of evidence-based medical policies. The successful candidate will maintain a dual focus: fostering an environment of clinical excellence for providers and achieving the strategic, operational goals of the hospital enterprise.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clinical Governance: Lead the medical executive committee, oversee physician credentialing, and manage peer-review processes.
  • Quality & Safety: Establish, monitor, and enforce clinical protocols to minimize medical errors and improve patient outcomes.
  • Staff Leadership: Recruit, mentor, and evaluate department chairs, attending physicians, and mid-level providers.    
  • Interdepartmental Liaison: Advise the C-suite (CEO/CFO) on clinical purchasing, medical technology needs, and physician workflows.
  • Utilization Review: Analyze clinical data and case management metrics to optimize resource allocation and bed utilization.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Education: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution.
  • Licensure: Board certification in a recognized specialty and an active, unrestricted state medical license.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of active clinical practice, paired with 3-5 years of formal leadership experience (e.g., Chief of Staff, Department Chair).
