About the unit

5S PICU is an 8-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.The unit manages the care of those patients under 25 who require intensive care.The diagnoses seen are multiple traumas, shock, DKA, respiratory failure, drug overdose and multiple organ failure.This unit also does all deep sedation for pediatric procedures such as EGD, colonoscopy, LP, bone marrow biopsy, PICC lines, thoracentesis, etc.

Scope of work

Coordinates aspects of patient care by managing communication and clerical tasks essential to the functioning of the unit. In addition to communication and clerical tasks, she/he monitors and stocks supplies. Provides patient care and related functions as delegated by and under the direction of a registered nurse.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent

  • Completion of nursing assistant program and/or one year of nursing assistant experience preferred.

  • Nursing Assistant certification preferred.

  • American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support required
