ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Safety: Maintain safety awareness and comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures to assure a safe working environment. Properly wear and care for applicable safety gear and equipment. Identify and communicate unsafe conditions to supervisor, coworkers, and the Safety functional area and correct or assist in resolving safety concerns and issues. Must understand and comply with the Clearance Procedure as applicable.

  • Because Tri-State is an electric utility with continuous service obligations to its customers, regular, reliable, and predictable performance of the essential functions and responsibilities is an essential function of the job.
  • Provide technical engineering support to Craig Station functional areas as assigned.
  • Provide technical direction to other Tri-State groups and individuals as assigned.
  • Perform/coordinate engineering analyses for numerous and diverse plant electrical systems.
  • Provide unit outage technical support to include scope of work, inspections, development of technical specifications and providing direction/oversight to contractors and/or station personnel in performing maintenance, new system and/or retrofitting work.
  • Provide technical assistance including troubleshooting of Operations and Maintenance (electrical, instrumentation, controls) issues.
  • Assist in development of Operations and Maintenance (O and M) budgets and capital projects.
  • Assist with development, administration, reporting and implementation of capital projects including contract development, technical specifications and drawing bid packages.
  • Participate in the evaluation and selection of consulting firms and contractors, to include coordination and monitoring of work.
  • Assist in the performance testing of plant equipment and other specialized tests as requested.
  • Assist with operational and maintenance procedures and creating and updating equipment maintenance and repair history.
  • Complete special projects and reports as assigned.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, programs and procedures as well as Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP), Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC), Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), North American Electric Corporation (NERC), and Midwest Reliability Organization (MRO) standards and Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) laws and regulations.

Qualifications
REQUIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Training:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related engineering discipline.

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:
  • General knowledge of power generation equipment, facilities and operations.
  • Working knowledge of computer software including but not limited to; CAD, Excel, MSWord.
  • Knowledge of the use and application of electric utility industry codes, standards and government regulations applicable to power generation operations, equipment and facilities including OSHA, EPA, NEC, IEEE, NFPA.
  • Working knowledge of safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, including technical information, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to coordinate and direct the work of others.
  • Familiarity with labor agreements.
  • Ability to achieve goals and expectations.

Experience:
  • Five (5) years of engineering experience including maintenance, operations and/or start-up of power generation equipment, facilities, and systems preferred.
  • Willingness to travel as required. (Must possess a valid driver's license).
  • Must be able to demonstrate that he/she can perform all of the essential functions of the position.
