BPM Engineer III (Appian Developer)


Client: Universal Service Administrative Co.
Location: 700 12th Street NW, Suite 900, Washington, DC 20005
Work Model: Hybrid


Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced BPM Engineer III (Appian Developer) to support the design, development, enhancement, integration, and maintenance of Appian-based business process management solutions. The role involves developing complex Appian applications, workflow automation, backend database functionality, system integrations, defect resolution, and participation in Agile sprint activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain Appian applications and workflows.
  • Build and enhance complex Appian SAIL interfaces and process models.
  • Develop Appian objects including records, reports, interfaces, process models, and integrations.
  • Perform application enhancements, troubleshooting, and defect resolution.
  • Develop and optimize backend database solutions.
  • Create and maintain integrations with internal and external systems.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily standups, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, architects, QA teams, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Ensure application performance, scalability, security, and maintainability.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 8+ years of overall IT experience.
  • 4+ years of hands-on Appian development experience.
  • Strong expertise in complex Appian SAIL development.
  • Experience with Appian process modeling, records, reports, integrations, and workflow automation.
  • Strong backend database development experience with:
    • MySQL
    • MariaDB
    • Microsoft SQL Server
  • Experience with REST/SOAP APIs and system integrations.
  • Knowledge of Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Appian Level 2 (L2) Certification.
  • Experience with Appian deployment and environment management.
  • Experience in BPM and workflow optimization initiatives.
  • Knowledge of performance tuning and database optimization.
