Job description

Summary: The Maintenance Worker reports to and receives supervision from the Maintenance Supervisor or the Administrator and repairs and maintains minor electrical, plumbing and mechanical equipment of the community campus. Responsibilities also include trouble-shooting heating and air-conditioning malfunctions, minor remodeling and carpentry work.
Essential Functions:
  • Replaces defective electrical switches and other fixtures
  • Paints structures, and repairs woodwork with carpenter's tools
  • Repairs plumbing fixtures
  • Repairs plaster or sheetrock and lays brick
  • Builds sheds and other outbuildings
  • Some grounds maintenance, including clearing fallen tree limbs, roadside trash, and irrigation
  • Responds to on-call requests
  • Operates company vehicles and equipment
  • Maintains all maintenance tools and equipment in working order

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required
  • Ability to read, understand and write English to communicate effectively
  • Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions
  • Previous maintenance experience, preferably in senior living, a plus but not required
  • Knowledge of and ability to operate lawn maintenance tools and related equipment
  • Ability to use various carpenter and plumbing hand tools and supplies
  • Ability to work with insecticides and other solutions
  • Ability to learn routine tasks quickly
  • Ability to perform a variety of manual tasks that require agility and manual dexterity
  • Must enjoy working with the senior population
