J&J Bros – A Carabetta Company is seeking a dependable, hardworking Groundman to join our growing tree service and vegetation management team. The Groundman plays a vital role in supporting Bucket Truck Operators and Crew Leaders by maintaining a safe work environment, handling equipment and materials, assisting with tree removal and trimming operations, and ensuring jobs are completed efficiently and professionally.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors, thrives in a physically demanding environment, and is looking to build a career in the tree care industry.


Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

· Assist Bucket Truck Operators and Crew Leaders with daily tree trimming and tree removal operations.

· Operate chainsaws, chippers, stump grinders, blowers, and other landscaping and tree care equipment safely and efficiently.

· Feed brush and limbs into woodchippers while following all safety procedures.

· Remove branches, debris, logs, and other materials from work sites.

· Assist with rigging, lowering, and handling tree sections during removals.

· Set up and maintain traffic control devices, cones, and work zone safety equipment.

· Perform routine inspection, cleaning, and maintenance of tools, equipment, and vehicles.

· Load and unload equipment and materials as needed.

· Maintain clean and organized job sites before, during, and after work is completed.

· Follow all OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and industry best practices.

· Communicate effectively with crew members and supervisors.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

· High school diploma or GED preferred.

· Previous tree service, landscaping, construction, or outdoor labor experience is preferred but not required.

· Ability to safely operate or learn to operate chainsaws, wood chippers, and other power equipment.

· Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions year-round.

· Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds on a regular basis.

· Comfortable with physically demanding tasks, including bending, climbing, lifting, walking, and standing for extended periods.

· Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn.

· Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

· Valid Connecticut Driver's License required.

· CDL Class B or willingness to obtain one is a plus.
