Job description

Professional Tree Climber


Tri-State Tree Service is recruiting an experienced Professional Tree Climber to enhance our expert arboriculture crew. This position merges advanced climbing skills with extensive tree care expertise to support residential and commercial projects.


Primary Duties


Arboriculture Operations


• Execute safe tree pruning and trimming procedures following professional standards


• Complete systematic tree removal, including segmented dismantling and material handling


• Utilize spider lifts and hydraulic platforms when accessible for improved productivity


• Ascend trees when aerial equipment access is restricted or unsuitable


Technical Expertise & Safety Management


• Apply advanced climbing methods, rope configurations, and rigging systems


• Handle and service chainsaws, climbing equipment, and specialized arboricultural tools


• Follow comprehensive safety procedures ensuring protection of crew, community, and property


• Collaborate efficiently with ground support personnel during operations


Client Relations & Team Coordination


• Interact professionally with customers to assess requirements and deliver expert guidance


• Report to field supervisor and work cooperatively with diverse team members


• Execute all assignments efficiently while upholding superior quality benchmarks


• Communicate safety concerns and equipment malfunctions immediately


Candidate Profile


Experience & Expertise


• 1+ years tree climbing and trimming background required


• Competency in climbing methods, rope systems, and chainsaw handling


• Understanding of tree physiology, species recognition, and appropriate pruning practices


• Strong analytical abilities and rapid decision-making capabilities


Physical & Technical Standards


• Superior physical conditioning for climbing, handling heavy materials, and demanding activities


• Capability to work outdoors across various weather environments


• Current driver's license with exemplary driving history


• Keen attention to detail and dedication to safety procedures


Preferred Credentials


• ISA Certified Arborist or Tree Worker Climber Specialist certification


• Spider lift and hydraulic platform operation experience


• Leadership and team management background
